Gran Turismo 7

@Andybtsn - This is my fastest qualifying lap for Race B (1080p - 4k still processing)

I've uploaded another A/S Race B from earlier in the view i use in race, but it's still processing HD & 4K, i'll make it public when it's at least 1080p.

Cheers mate, that is very useful, some proper aggressive driving, worst thing is you could probably get a quicker time! Just highlighted the need for me to go manual gears...not sure what to map them too, don't find square and X the best positionally.

Yeah i messed up the twisties at the start, i can't beat that time though.

Auto will slow you down, you cant drop it down gear to use the engine braking, or put it in 1st to get extra rotation at the hairpin (controller can't turn as quickly as steering wheel). I use Square=Down Gear, Circle=Up Gear, That's from years of using that setup in Forza, i change every racing game i play to the same buttons.

Here's a typical race in A/S (i think the first couple may have been A+/S, last couple were B/S), if i don't make any mistakes or get punted off. It was all kicking off around me which is normal in A/S.

@spaceman how do you get that kind of rotation coming into the chicane? it looks like it's kind of pivoting round which lets you overrun the curb without the aggressive bouncing? When I do it, it looks and feels more like I'm turning in onto the curb so when hit the curb I get launched a little which makes the second curb equally as bad and costs me time.

I've noted how you do the last chicane as well! :D I'm doing what you do, but keeping the power on which makes looks the wrong thing to do. What you're doing looks like you get a much better turn in and smoother entry on to it.

I'll have to set some time aside to try and get closer to your time today. Don't think I've done an online race for a couple of weeks now, I just quite enjoy seeing what you lot put up and how well I can do against it.

On the first chicane i try to turn in early and keep the right hand wheel on the track, if that rides over the curb too, then i get the bounce over the middle of the chicane and slide on the exit.

The last chicane seems better in 3rd with a bit of engine braking than 4th with a tap of the brakes, either stabilises the car to turn in more on exit. The 458 is about the same in 3rd or 4th coming out of the last chicane with me driving, but i seem to prefer 3rd watching the replays.

I'm slightly faster out of the last corner in 3rd taking a wider line into the corner, but it looks like i always forget that and use 2nd, lol.

I watched the Spam guy in your replay and in the WRX he never used 2nd unless he messed up the entry on the hairpins at the end - mostly 3rd around both. He was in 4th through the big chicane breaking around the 100m board and had really good speed through there. And yeah always taking a big chunk of the first curb on the left.

I haven't used the WRX other than a test lap, but I take the chicanes in 4th in the GTR, it turns in very well. 2nd or 3rd around the hairpin depending on line.

In the 458 i rarely get through the main chicane without a bounce in 4th, so use 3rd in the races, The AWD cars do gain on me through there.

Been having a crack at Daily B most of this afternoon, my optimal time in the 458 was a mid 1:42 but I couldn't string an actual good lap together. Decided to do some of the actual races rather just the qualifying trial, managed to get a 2nd with all the B/S lobbies and a good few races where I've started 10th or higher and managed to finish a few positions up. Ended up getting my best time in the Alfa, think I have the first chicane kind of dialed in, and I'm getting better at the second.

I hope they fix or tweak the BOP soon though, so it's not all 4WD lobbies.

Good time @BenjiSayers !

Unlocked Sport Mode earlier as I was working through the Cafe Menus so thought I'd have a go of the time trials. I did so many laps of Kyoto using different cars trying to better spaceman's time and ended up nowhere near :o it seems the track limits are quite forgiving for that particular circuit so I guess that's where time is being made up (I do my best to stay on the tarmac :D). The below is what I ended up with for each time trial. Will have a go at some actual races soon and see how I go!

Maggiore - 49.821 (WRX Gr.B Rally car)
Kyoto - 1:43.270 (Huracan Gr.4)
Red Bull Ring - 1:30.273 (911 RSR)

I think i'll be back in the AMG SLS for Race B this week, i'll see what the 458 is like, but it probably doesn't have the turn in for this track.

I did a couple of laps in the Mustang & Lexus (highest power RWD Gr4), but was 3 seconds quicker in the SLS on my first lap (2:02.2). I imagine i could get that into the 2:00's if i run 10-15 laps later.

I'll see how my Jag does on Suzuka later too.

EDIT: I'm around 2:01.2 on Race B now, 2:00.5 if i get everything together on the same lap. I'll share the reply if i do get it all together, i haven't bothered chasing or watching anyone faster yet either :D
