*** Grand Theft Auto IV - In-Game Chat [Spoilers] ***

Finally someone said it :)

People throwing hissy fits because you can't hold the handbrake and throttle down and drift round corners with ease. Maybe try GT5p with a wheel and all driving aids off, this is what the new GTA reminds me of.

GT5 is a racing simulation. GTA is supposed to be less serious and more fun...

No some of us jsut don't like people whining constantly about how many problems there are with graphics, draw distances, HDR, AA, AF, ABCDEFG. If people think the gfx are soo **** then **** off back to your PC and jerk off over Crysis. Were people expecting it to look as good as that and have a city soo vast with and way you interect with everything being perfect?

Some people need to stop whining about the gfx and start actually playing the game. Next you will be telling me mario kart on the wii has crap gfx and how a PC can do o so wonderful things with AA and AF and its directx 10 £300 gfx card.

Sorry for going off on one, but there are soo many childish kids on here who seem to have the maturity of a 5 month old child.

Im going to go back to work, then go home and play my adult game.

I think some people have commented on draw distance and pop-up, because those are issues which plagued previous iterations of GTA and people reasonably hoped they might have been resolved on this generation of more powerful consoles.

O rly ;)

I was trying to make the point that the handling in GTA reminds me of the way that cars actually handle, ala GT5p. It's just soo much more advanced than previous GTA games, and I see why people compain that they can't go round corners at 80mph with a flick of the handbrake.

Fox is a good example as he was talking about it being 'driving fail', but then got used to not holding down the throttle everywhere, and started to learn how to drive :D

Czesz.

O definately, there are still some niggling problems, but you have to admit the improvement over previous games is phenomenal. I did honestly expect a little less of the jaggies, but then realised that even GT5 has some, and maybe peoples expectation of the new consoles are far too high. You can't have COD4, GOW graphics on a grand scale with perfection. The physics engine in IV really is astounding and is the most important thing in my eyes, as I would rather have that than a really sharp and graphically perfect game with glitches when you are around walls, cars, benches and all other manner of objects.

The driving in previous GTAs wasn't THAT easy anyway - you could still easily spin out if you weren't careful. Also the vehicles did handle and perform differently relative to the models they were based on, their weight etc. But they had the right balance between fun and realism IMO.

hhhmm looking at the cheats (see my previous post);
Remove Wanted Level
Remove Niko's wanted level. Blocks achievement "Walked free".
Anyone know more about this achievement? I out run the police last night but got no achievement, anyone know if its only after a certain point etc?

There is also one for surviving with 6 stars for 5 minutes..

Surely that must be easy, just climb to somewhere where they can't get you..

or do the police climb ladders in GTA4..?

The easiest way (I hear) is to hijack the tour helicopter and fly into an area of the map you have not unlocked, auto 6 stars, then just fly around for five minutes :D the police heli may find you, but you can easily outrun it.

It's still driving fail - I've got used to it now so I dont crash but I much prefer the old arcadey throw the car around style. It was more fun and I've got my own car for realistic city driving :p

Apparently another easy way is to get in the speedboat and go to the other island, another auto 6 stars, then just drive the boat around the island at full pelt.

i heard there is no gun/ammo shops , so where does niko get his guns from?

cheers

There's a handgun at the go kart track a little way south from the first safehouse. Look for a glowing red area. The indie guide book notes the location of other items too such as armour, but I haven't looked for those yet.

The police seem much more sensitive than previous GTA's, they are everywhere and you can't just cap someone for their cash a couple of times before getting a wanted star, as in previous GTA's.

Where is the helicopter?!

The standard Maverick chopper is available from the Helitours location in the southeast Algonquin and from a private helipad in northwest Alderney. Heavily armoured Annihilators appear on top of a police building in northeast Algonquin and also in the northern area of the Francis International Airport.
