*** Grand Theft Auto IV - In-Game Chat [Spoilers] ***

Is any game perfect? I wasn't expecting that GTA IV would be anything more than it is tbh, I think that some people were expecting GoW like graphics which just isn't possible for a game like GTA with this gen of consoles - IMO ;)

No game is perfect, which makes it even more ridiculous when people explode at the slightest flaw being described.

I'm going to try and that I get out the taxi :p

BTW, anyone found any numbers to ring? Surely there's some numbers you can ring for a laugh.

On t'internet there are a few numbers to be found. Not bothered calling any yet.

gtaforums.com compiled a list of all the phone numbers.
You can find a list of easter eggs, phone numbers and websites there as well http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=334075

I can't be bothered driving so I am getting a cab to missions and stuff.
Also a woman who got in a fight with a bloke got chased on foot by the police and got arrested. They both got into a passing police car and dissappeared. Very impressive.
Another thing is criminals on the run especially from fat coppers try and hide in alleyways and behind boxes.

Sorry but I've never played any GTA game before & I'm having trouble with the combat system. Just can't see to get it to shift targets and also I'm getting my ass kicked, for every 1 punch I land I receive 4 back. :(

Oddly enough I'm driving around no probs at all, cars feel great - it's all about anticipation and gentle control. I just suck at the combat. :(

Do you have to aim punches? Is it easier on a certain view?

:o

I've got the hang of it now I think - unlike the previous GTA games you cant drive everywhere with your finger on the accelerator hard down.

Finally someone said it :)

People throwing hissy fits because you can't hold the handbrake and throttle down and drift round corners with ease. Maybe try GT5p with a wheel and all driving aids off, this is what the new GTA reminds me od. Finally car handlingvaries between every car, none of them seem to have 10 pot carbon-ceramic brakes and racing tires. They actually handle like crap american cars (except the o so sexy comet that looks like a 911).

You have to learn to only punch when close enough, as after a volley of punches to someone, they will have been pushed back. Then they will counter if you keep tapping punch (as you will now be punching thin air), so wait or practise dodging with 'x', and then go in for another volley and beat them to a pulp :)

Some people just like throwing tantrums when you tell them their treasured game isn't perfect.

No some of us jsut don't like people whining constantly about how many problems there are with graphics, draw distances, HDR, AA, AF, ABCDEFG. If people think the gfx are soo **** then **** off back to your PC and jerk off over Crysis. Were people expecting it to look as good as that and have a city soo vast with and way you interect with everything being perfect?

Some people need to stop whining about the gfx and start actually playing the game. Next you will be telling me mario kart on the wii has crap gfx and how a PC can do o so wonderful things with AA and AF and its directx 10 £300 gfx card.

Sorry for going off on one, but there are soo many childish kids on here who seem to have the maturity of a 5 month old child.

Im going to go back to work, then go home and play my adult game.

Decided to pick GTA4 up this morning...popped into the high st retailer where i work and was surprised to see that they had quite a few copies for sale...not only that there was a pretty big que of people who either had the 360 version or PS3 version.

Anyways had a quick play with it and it seems pretty good, a bit like Saints Row but better i think. The gfx are amazing on it although ive noticed a bit of a framerate issue...kinda slows down in certain areas but then ive got used to that with the games ive played in the past.

I take it mission wise, they just come as you play the game??. Already done 3 missions and failed one which i dont know which one it was i failed...checked through the stats and it didnt say anything about which mission i failed.

Quite a cool game though, i like that Roman dude...makes me laugh with his chat.

If you fail a mission you get a text message asking you if you want to repeat it, so you dont have to go hunting for it again.

I had a quick play last night, only about 2 hours, and thats because I had to force myself to goto bed and I am impressed. Not really done a lot, just done a mission involving the rasta and grooming Michelle.

One thing I dont like is the way Niko moves, he still leans when you try and walk around corners and that isnt realistic. That aside, I can see this game being played for a long time.

The physics engine is nothing special for me from what I have seen so far (some 8% into the game) it feels like a tarted Saints Row's physics engine atm, although its very, very early days still.

I quite like the game so far. A mate of mine who got the game early from a competitor last week told me that it wasn't all that and just classic GTA more than anything - a good and a bad thing tbh.

I love the car handling, I just think it is superb. Car chases can be rather dramatic as a result, since every car has its own characteristics. I do wish the game had the ability to kit up your car ala Saints Row/San Andreas though...The variety of cars in the game feels good and I have yet to 'jack a truck or a bike yet! The Duke (dodge) car is my personal favourite so far.

As for the 360 version popup isn't an issue at all. It is there but no where near as bad as people make it out to be. For instance I can be looking forwards and then change the view to the rear you'll notice an element of scenery appear. It hasn't affected my game one bit yet. As I mentioned earlier the DoF filter that is applied seems to be a variable one - it works really well in places, and looks completely poor in other places - for that reason I wouldn't trust all these sites with 'comparison' screenshots between the two formats.

Combat is a bit iffy right now as I'm not used to this auto targeting system that the consoles have. I guess I need more practice there.

Controls on the 360 are brilliant, and I got to grips with them in about 20mins. The trigger for accelerating feels spot on, as does the brake. I keep accidentally activating the horn when cornering heavily though! :o

So far the characters are quite interesting. I already want to kill Roman and Vlad, I don't find them humorous at all. Little Jacob rocks! :D I can't understand him without subs running but I 'trust' him...Michelle on the other hand I don't.

Argh I'm having withdrawal symptoms! I want to go home! :(
