*** Grand Theft Auto IV - MODS & TWEAKS ***

OK, again it's nothing major, just what I've found to work.

For 1.0.7.0

This is written using Windows 8 x64 and retail GTAIV (no DLC - ballad of gay tony etc.)

Install the game as usual. Apply the 1.0.7.0 patch. Make sure you can run it as is. In order to get it to work with windows 8, I needed to download and install the latest games for windows live (gfwlivesetup.exe) and run the LaunchGTAIV.exe as administrator

A lot of the car packs knacker up if you already have cars parked up in your garages. So preferably start a new game.

It's wise to take a copy of your entire game folder here.

Default directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV

create a commandline.txt file in your default directory with the following text within it:
-norestriction
-nomemrestrict
-availablevidmem "1.1"
-percentvidmem "100"

A straight forward copy and paste loadingscreens_pc.dat into
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\common\data

It's a very straight forward, extract, copy and paste into your main directory, overwrite all. You need to keep MSI afterburner closed while running the game as it interferes with directx 9.

downloads\Vulgadrop ENB 2.1c\ ----->
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV

Cut scene may be bright, in which case it can be switched on and off in game with shift+F12

Copy and paste all files, excluding the TBoGT folder into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\

Overwrite all.

*edit* this one doesn't seem to work too well

Again, copy and paste into your main directory

Overwrite all.

It's much better
As before just copy and paste.
TrafficLoad.asi
TrafficLoad.ini
msvcr100d.dll
into your main directory
delete the other traffic load from your /scripts folder (if you installed it)


That should be it, it really is just a bunch of copy and pasting! No guarantees, it's just what worked for me :)

Well all that worked out perfectly RichIbizaSport.

The only thing i could really be picky about is the extra load times. But it's all working and i'm quite happy to wait a little longer.

Looks good (IMO) whilst still being playable, in action too

See post 326 if you want your GTA4 to look like this. I made this guide over 1 year ago. My GTA Modding is one of the best out there and i get no Taxi bug as ive proved in my Videos. Its all totally maxxed out and runs flawlessly. Dont bother with 1.0.7.0 as 1.0.4.0 is the version to use with the best supported mods. I know this from lots and lots of testing.

That does look nice. I bet modded GTA4 will look better than GTA5 :rolleyes:

I tried but the road textures I couldnt find with out having to register to download them. (most likely not doing it properly)

And Its so complicated. Copy this bit copy that bit. (Or I was just reading and doing it wrong)

I like simple. Copy paste. lol Getting to old I think.

Yeah you need to register with 4shared. All the original links are long dead, that is the only link that exists for the road textures that i used.
 
Is this gonna be a long trial and error experience?
I just cant seem to find an enhancer mod that works correctly with my system.
Iv tried a few different ones for v1.0.7.0 now and iv also tried downgrading to v1.0.4.0 and tried some of them.
They mostly looked great and each had their advantages but everyone of them also had a bad problem. Either too much brightness during daytime,too grainy picture, too dark at night time.
The best results so far iv had from ICEnhancer v2.1 on v 1.0.7.0 i think. It had the red sky bug which i found a fix for, and it looked great until i got to the mission inside the warehouse where you save roman and it was unplayable as it was far too dark. You just cant see the enemies at all.

Can i change the brightness in the files/settings with this mod somehow?
Maybe a nice flashlight mod for the guns would work a treat right now.

One major thing i have found out that if you use Sapphire Trixx overclocking software with a HD7850 gpu with this game modded, it seriously drops your fps. Iv had to unistall it and just use ccc instead.

I dont have any of the files anymore as i uninstalled the whole game and all the mods when i did a fresh OS install around 6 months ago or more. Even though i loved modding GTA4 i never actually got around to playing it. I actually think GTA 4 is also the worst GTA ever made which is why i wasnt interested enough to push myself to play it. So if you want those files your gonna have to download them from the links before they disappear forever.;)
 
Whats not to like about driving around with random people on the net (it seems mostly Russian) and carrying out drive by's, rocket launcher ambushes etc. ?

Finally getting to a point that I'm happy with, modding wise. :D

Does anyone else experience errors when exiting the game with mods? I had issues with benching but I seem to have remedied that. I'm hoping this won't cause issues down the road as I'm yet to save the game..everything has been altered on a new game.
