*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

I was only able to play for a short while last night, maybe 45 minutes, before I had to leave my PS3 all alone :(

The last thing I did was go on a first date with Michelle. I went into the bowling alley and walked up to the counter and pressed L1, but nothing happened. I spent ages trying to get bowling and I just completely failed..... so I walked around the various racks of balls :eek: trying to pick them up :eek: and accidentally stabbed one of the other bowlers in the guts :D He just stumbled off without a word. I thought his response was quite dignified considering my unwarranted assault.

Will be trying it again tonight, though.
 
well i have finnally got a copy, got paid today, tried 2 of the big supermarkets first, sold out of both the 360 and PS3 versions, so took a trip into town and loads of copys everywhere. Ended up getting it for the 360 in the end, the downloaded content promised later and controller swung it for me.

only noticed it was gone about an hour or 2 after i bought it

guess it must have come off when i crashed and flew throught the windscreen :P

Its the little touches that make gta so good :)
 
bought it about an hour ago. 50 last night were preordered ... but any that didn't go were put on general sale today and there were 8 left. so if you're one of the people who preordered it at my local store but forgot to pick it up - nabbed!! :D

Game seems great so far, PS3 is handling it nicely. Just been driving around mainly, too many things to do to get involved in the story line yet :cool::D
 
Stupid ****** Stores ! i rang a games store up at 11.30am......

Asked if they had any in stock they said yes, i asked about 360 versions, could they check if they definatly had them in, she said yes we have quite allot actually, off i pop, literally running to train station pay 2.70 on train ticket, got at the store at id say 12.45.......

and :(

So much for the ''Quite a Allot'', hardly anyone in town either.

Unlucky dude. I see the people who were claiming anyone would be able to walk into a store on launch day and get one have suddenly kept quiet.
 
I dont care what anyone says, i have the ps3 version and the 360 version on my Samsung 1080p M87 40" tele and the ps3 is running HDMI and the 360 is VGA and the PS3 version looks more jagged and lower textured... and the FPS seems lower.

I was hoping the PS3 version would run better because of installing it to the HDD but it just looks really pap compared to the 360....

Is there something im doing wrong? Even the 360 on multiplayer looks better and multiplayer is meant to be lower graphics settings to allow better gameplay!!!!

So disappointed!

I am not a fan boy and prefer my 360 for the better choice of games/xbox live and friends list....

But the PS3's blu ray is awesome etc and the menus make you feel you have more control over how the console performs but GTA is clearly worst on the ps3 and i dont care what any reviewer, fanboy, ps3 owner says..... my 360 version looks way way way better!

On my PS3 i only have the lowest display setting ticked and 1080p.... and have all the other display options to yes or on....
