Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

I am wondering about the EVGA 5yr and 10yr warranties for a fee to increase them from 3 years on qualifying products.

Looking at the gtx 660ti and gtx 670.

I don't see the point in spending an extra 50-60 euro for the 10 year one,
but rather I like the idea of 25 euro for the 5 year warranty.

Or, is the idea not worth it,
and keep to the standard 3 years warranty for graphic cards?

Opinions please.

Well most people wouldn't keep a card for 5 years but if the warranty is transferable then having a 5 year one might help reselling it. If that was the case then I would extend to 5 years.

Last 3 cards have been Sapphire, 2x hd5770 an my current one in my sig.
Had zero problems since purchasing.
Luck of the draw i suppose :/

Oh I agree that it is luck of the draw. Just next time I will prepare for the worst case scenario of it breaking and see what the returns policy is. If Sapphire manage to make returns a quicker process then I will consider buying from them again.
 
If I buy a card, either from OCUK or not, after the 1yr is up - how is MSI vs EVGA vs Gigabyte when it comes to warranties?

Seems to me like MSI is the best, but turn-around is slower?

Also does the card HAVE to be bought in the EU?

Please don't give me another infraction - I'm just asking about warranties :)

if you want to know who has the quickest and best warranty, simply look to see who wins most awards for this service and then your answer will be all to clear! :D

Without actual hard stats it's impossible to say who's the best but a thread like this will give you vague idea of who is highly regarded and who isn't. Generally speaking I would say Gigabyte is probably seen as the best add in partner for UK buyers since they have their European warehouse located here in UK and turned is always quick. MSI is very good I don't think I've ever seen a bad word said about them and EVGA who did have terrible reputation for customer support in Europe have turned things around in the last year and even I know own an EVGA card.

To be honest I don't think you can go wrong with any of those brands in terms of customer support so I would make you purchasing decision on warranty length, price and features.

Out of interest do those awards apply to EVGA worldwide or EVGA Europe? EVGA have always had a good name across the pond but over here that's not always been the case (although as mentioned EVGA are doing a good job in turning things around in Europe).

Also why does EVGA stubbornly refuse to use anything else other then the stock leaf lower style cooler? It would great to see EVGA design a custom cooled card that was pitched against the Twin Frozr and Windforce designs. :cool:

cheers for the reply bro - I went via MSI - but EVGA does seem extremely good!
 
HIS graphics card (6970) returned under RMA to Ocuk aged 11 month old. They have informed me its tested faulty and that also I will have to wait upto 28 days from taking it into store. Its being returned to taiwan (i think it was).

Currently on day 16 now, that is as long as it was not 28 working days. Do not think I would buy HIS again just on this experience.

Keep me updated on here, looks like I'll have to ammend the list for HIS, as it seems OcUK ship them RMA to China/Taiwan if the graphics card fails after 28 days of purchase.

Hi Nelly, Ocuk replaced my card today after 4 weeks/20 workings days. Im happy its sorted but will definatly take more notice next time I order a card or component as to the RMA service some of these manufacturers supply.
