Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

I recently RMA'd my 1 year old Gigabyte 480 SoC on the 3rd of March 2012.

I got an email back on 22 March 2012 saying they were swapping it for a 580 SoC.

2 weeks after that, I got the 580 thru the post.

I can't fault that service.

lol, apart from the 5 week turnaround

Anyone had experience with KFA2 RMA?

If it died from overclocking there will signs of around the vrm's such as black marks broken solder etc. I very much doubt you the first person to send back card that has died from overclocking hoping that they won't notice so I doubt your attempt to pull a fast one will work.

maybe, i rang them up, they're doing it right now, i didn't tell them anything, i just said i turned the computer on and the card was dead, which is true

i'll never OC the card above stock volts again, it's not worth waiting 4 weeks for another card, it's one hell of a long time since i've gamed, plus the worry of it

mine died two weeks ago, it only lasted 6 hours !

yea can you imagine if i varnished it :(

i'm not going above stock volts next time..... no way ! because i wasn't careful enough last time, i OC it way too far, to be honest i dont think it needs much OCing anyway.

the card blew without crashing first, it OC fine; i never had any trouble with it on MSI Afterburner, i noticed no signs of trouble first, the only thing that i didn't like was the increase in Coil Whine.... it got very loud, i should have taken this as a warning sign....silly me !

so next time i will stay on stock volts and watch out for coil whine, because as soon as i start hearing it i'll back off straight away

Is this the second 7970 you overclocked to death or the same one as before?

so are you getting it replaced under warranty, or you still waiting to find out if they haven't found out?

Such as admitting it on a very popular internet forum? :D

Lol :p

OcUK are pretty cool with people doing things they technically shouldn't.

In that, they won't reject the RMA if it looks physically perfect :)

***NOTE: THIS IS BASED PURELY ON MY OWN EXPERIENCES AND DEALINGS WITH OcUK***

Please don't give me another infraction.

lol, apart from the 5 week turnaround

A few ppl said it took around a week IIRC :)

they've found the fault, but they wont replace the card from their own stock.... the faulty card has to be sent to Europe and a new card is sent from there and it's sent via Air Mail only !!!

bloody hell, so it'll take at least another week, i cant believe they wont replace it from stock..

conclusion:- buy from here only..

conclusion: - Plane > Boat

Not being funny you ought be grateful that there going to replace it for free I'm amazed they didn't work that it had died from overclocking/overvolting.

I have to give props to MSI. My 7950 was faulty and rather than sending me back a refurbished one they sent me a brand new one and it came within 9 days of being sent.

I RMA'd my VTX3D 7970 on Monday, I bought it 5 days earlier from OC.
What's the typcal turn around in side the initial 28 days?
Do OC still need to send the card to VTX for investigation?

Update - Very pleased!

Didn't realise OCuK look after the whole RMA process for VTX3D cards!
In short...Card sent to OCuK on Monday, card received by OCuK Wednesday, new card posted out on Wednesday afternoon. Delivery of replacement today between 1.30-2.30pm!!

Not sure I would every choose another GPU brand when OCuK manage the whole process, especially if the RMA process is in total 4 days.

Well chuffed!

nice!

I suspect you got such a quick turnaround as it was within 28 days, hopefully the turnaround for 30 day old products is just as good

I wish I had read this before I purchased my xfx card it only lasted 6 weeks now it's broken and xfx want to charge me £55 to replace the fan.
