Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

Exceptional service from Gigabyte. Returned a faulty Gigabyte 7850 and they found a fault. Got a new 7850 within 5 working days! I recommend you guys buy from them.

Could you please let me know how is your new one? if it is faulty or not? And did you get one from B-graded range or a new one?

Could I please get an update on Sapphire's RMA status? Earlier in that post it was said that it is handled by OCuk completely (as well as XFX and HIS) and takes less than a week, but later on someone mentioned that it is taking a long time. So is it still supposed to be handled by OCuk or not anymore?

If OCUK handle the warranty then they will replace the card if it takes longer than 28 working days. When I returned an OCUK/VTX card I sent an enquiry after 28 normal days and they reminded me of this but a few days later they sent me a new card.

This is quite **** to be honest with you... With Gigabyte they sent me the money back within first 48 hours and I received the movey within the next 48 hours, which was very good. But I cannot imagine waiting for a replacement for 28 days.

Tbh, I agree with you entirely.
I've just rma'd a HIS 7950 which is barely a month old due to a noisy fan.
I cant believe that for something so new and expensive I have to wait so long for it to be sorted.

If it was a £300 hoover bought from Currys you would take it back and they would just replace it.

With this I have to pay a fortune to send it back, pay for something to take its place for a month and not have the use of something I've just laid out £100's for in the meantime

Yeah, I will keep my old GPU with me, just in case that happens, but to be honest, I am not really looking forward to buy anything but Gigabyte...

I want people to understand that OCUK are pretty useless when it comes to Sapphire and Asus. They are unable to pull much in getting turn around times on RMA's etc. The world is changing with RMA's with major players now offering instant replacement of broken items with no returning to manufacturers

The only brands I have any real confidence with are Gigabyte, MSI, EVGA and KFA2.

Although I haven't heard anything positive about Zotac, I've nothing to report that's negative either. The same for PNY.

Does this imply OCUK are not a big player ?
I thought they were tbh and returned my card expecting it to be replaced by them.
Bit peeved that I laid out the best part of £300 not 6 weeks ago and cant use the thing, even more so now end game is here.

Major players meaning manufacturers. What OcUK can and cannot do for you is dependent on the warranty policy put in place by the manufacturer,

Thats not what he said, carlazai implied that Ocuk were not a major player.

my old xfx 6870 is still in warranty and is making a crap ton of noise selling the card with my old pc in the next 30days think a rma would be back in time ?

PC sales are going like books. This can be seen in the price of goods and the services offered. I mentioned this 2 years ago and nothing has changed with returns policy. OCUK should be keeping up with the market on returns policy because its a major decision in mine and others buying habits of PC components, esp gfx cards.

Just had an email from OcUK that they have sent my 7950 back to HIS for repair or replacement. Anyone got any ideas how long this can take?

Anywhere upto 6 weeks it seems, as the cards go back to Hong Kong/China. But it's only supposed to take 28 days, as mentioned by trading standards. If it gets to 28 days, contact OcUK.

This is why I will not buy an HIS card, or any other manufacturer card that takes this long, sure the chances of needing to RMA a card within it's 2-3 years are low, but I would rather go with a company that will return your card within 14 days.

See the first post on this thread for RMA details of all manufacturers >> http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18231329

From what I gather and what Nelly has said above. OcUK have sent my HIS 7950 off to be repaired or replaced which can take 60+ days (I believe it goes back to Taiwan or China). OcUK should replace the card if it gets to 28 days though.

Personally I won't bother with them again. That is a long time for my pc to be out of commission while I wait for a replacement. You would be much better off with a manufacturer that has a faster RMA process such as Gigabyte.

EDIT: the card you are looking at is only sold with 90 days warranty. The two years does not count even with HIS.

Thanks. That means as long as RMA is concerned, HIS is not a good choice. BTW, is Asus not UK based? I believe they have UK based CS for laptop but not sure about grahpics cards.
