Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

Just had an email from OcUK that they have sent my 7950 back to HIS for repair or replacement. Anyone got any ideas how long this can take?

Just had the same message, regarding an MSI HD7870 Hawk I sent back last week. Hopefully, as they seem to be near the top of the list, it won't get to the full 28 days.

Let us know how long your cards take to be repaired/replaced on here, would appreciate the information, as I basically rely on feedback from multiple forums to form some sort of similarity.

You would be much better off with a manufacturer that has a faster RMA process such as Gigabyte.

EDIT: the card you are looking at is only sold with 90 days warranty. The two years does not count even with HIS.
I'm not 100% sure, but on B Grade Gigabyte items, you may get warranty after the 90 days from Gigabyte, because they take warranty from the date of manufacture via the serial number, all you need is a receipt.

That is what I thought. The only uncertainty is that they may refuse when seeing its b grade item from the receipt :/

Just to confirm, ordering from ocuk for a msi graphics card would mean should anything occur I would send it to ocuk and they'd send it to msi?

If it's 28 days or under from date of delivery, a retailer will replace from stock. Over 28 days, then the card goes back to the manufacturer.

thanks for replying Nelly.

In your post it states:
"If bought from Ocuk they will deal with the warranty. Typically 10-25 days RMA, contact OcUK if RMA takes >28 days."

Not sure if you got my question :o

Basically I wanted to know if I buy an MSI card from OCUK, would I ship the card to them (UK) and they would send to Netherlands and then I assume Netherlands >to> OcUK >to> Me?

I see your point, saying if the card is less than 28 days old, OcUK will replace directly from their stock (so I'll only have to send to OcUK and get a quick turn around) but I'm asking do I need to send it to OcUK and pay UK only courier or is it all dealt with by OCUK throughout the whole 3 year warranty?

Hope that makes sense

edit: nevermind, confirmation from 5UB that OcUK handles MSI RMA's directly.

Ugg got a 7950 that is red screening and causing blue screens as well. Made by HIS not looking forward to sending it back.

Been always wondering, what happens if the etailer's warranty is shorter than manufacturer's statement. I am saying new products not B grades. Most etailers only provide 12 months warranty (by law), to name a couple, 'A' and 'E'. And some of the brands do not deal with consumers (e.g. MSI, HIS etc) directly making us no other option to turn to. Effectively products sold in such condition have degraded warranty services. In that sense, buying from OCUK seems to be of better value if the prices do not differ a lot. As far as I know, OCUK provides the same warranty length as stated by manufacturers.

Except for one company you mention sends out RMAs before receiving the card back, they use your credit card as a guarantee that you will return a broken item that needs replacing. Its an amazing service that needs replication for me.

Posted it last Thursday, and according to email instructions I was to wait 3 - 6 working days before enquiring about the status. I emailed today, and received an email back stating that :

Our engineer believes this item is due for replacement as a component ordered to initiate repair is at a shortage at the moment so he is waiting to hear back from his management in Taiwan if they are sending the necessary component or a replacement will be organized instead. Please e mail again on Monday.

So far so good, it seems. :)

could anyone tell me where VTX and Powecolor fall in the table?

Well the table is in the very first post on Page 1 of this thread, so you could always check it out for yourself, but I can tell you that Powercolor is at the very bottom, together with the comment "Avoid like the plague..."!

didnt even realise Powercolor was in the table :o
What about VTX?

I think VTX and Powercolor (and Xpertvision) are all part of the TUL corporation, so I doubt any of them would be much better than what is mentioned in the table (Powercolor). It may differ depending on where you live in the world, but generally speaking, quite good build quality but poor customer service is what sums them up.
