That said, I still think consistently high framerates on Ultra High will be out of reach, at 1920*1200

The 260 will be priced at $449 and go up against the ATI 770/4870 costing MUCH less. The 280 will be about 25 per cent faster and quite likely lose badly to the R700, very badly, but cost more, $600+.

No its different.

Heres a thought...

8800Ultra maximum TDP is rated at 175W. Now we all know about over heating issues with the Ultra because the cooler wasnt good enough. Now if the GTX 280 has a TDP of 250W how the hell is one of these air coolers going to cope with that?!?

Even with zero percent markup (which never happens), and no import costs, $449 = £266.45, once VAT has been added.

I imagine it will be a while before we see these for under £300.

... Of course, I hope I'm wrong on this.

everytime new NV card comes out it costs loads, I think we just need to get over this, we just don't get parts for cheap in the UK:[
