GTA4 - Will it be appearing on pc?

meh, it doesn't need anything new, what everyone wants is everything done better. Unfortunately arcade style driving with completely unrealistic handling and the ridiculous suspension crap we get in these style games feels so incredibly wrong. non fixed camera while driving to make it easier to turn and instantly see whats coming as opposed to essentially driving blind down a street sideways for a bit till the camera adjusts, thats the most bizarre and pointless thing i've ever seen and is so common in these games. Neither of those has been fixed and would for me be almost the most wanted fix over previous games.

I don't need more cars, half an hour into these games you find your favourite car and go steal it all the time and ignore most of the rest. 20-30 cars is plenty hitting 50 is plenty.

What i want, and all games need is great story lines. Fantastic gameplay and terrible story makes for a boring game, terrible gameplay but fantastic story is also a bit dodgey. But inbetween that anything distinctly average gameplay with fantastic story ends up being a great game. Mass Effect hasn't got the best gameplay ever, yet is great because of a fantastic story, same for Kotor 1 and 2 and many games like them. Crysis actually does have pretty good gameplay, however the story was pathetically dull, cliche'd predictible and very few people thought it was a great game.

Vice City had a distinct theme, different to a lot of things around the time and had some decent scripting although a little too cliche'd but just pulled it off. For me, SA was just awful purely because of the cliche'd, well, everything. The scripting was terrible, unless you are the people who believe every rapper really was a hardcore gangster. The story was predictable and dull as anything. more open gameplay doesn't make it better, it moved on and had less to do on the engine front, and a lot more time therefore to design the cities. Time marches on, all games get bigger levels, thats due to bigger budgets, larger staff and being wanted by game buyers, that doesn't itself make it a better game.

Am i the only one whose bored that picking up a game like this I know the Jamaican guy will be on weed, barely understandable and be a massive racial stereotype? Will the Russian guy have to be a poor guy who had to fight in an Army and got screwed over? Will there be an idiot family member who gets everyone into trouble and lies a lot? Will there be a Mafia guy, a Triad guy, some witnesses to bump off, stupid cops....

Bring in professional writers of good films and tv, not the cheap crap cliche'd script writers that have been writing the same games for 10 years and are incapable of coming up with anything interesting anymore.

best not need a 9600GT!!!! this x1950 cost me a lot + i 'think' i would need to buy the next PSU up from mine to have a more powerful card :(

He said a 9600GT to run it 'maxed'.
If that is the case (I'd be surprised except for people with small monitors), then it should probably be playable on a x1950 in 'non-maxed' settings.

Certainly hope there's a PC version of GTA4 if only to use the keyboard/mouse to control character movement rather than fumbling with the waggle sticks on a console gamepad.

Re the different GTA's, started GTA3 but never went beyond the first couple of missions. As I played it after SA and VC, missed the little touches like the map and being able to set waypoints etc. Played VC through once but so far have played SA through three times. Note played through, not finished. Best so far around 86% completion. If I had one complaint about SA it's that some of the side missions (like street racing) don't open until quite late in the game. By then you've probably been playing two months solid and just want to get to the end. Enjoyed some of the RPG element though the GF's (with or without Hot Coffee) seemed a fairly useless distraction. Usually ended up taking them out a couple of times to hear the dialogue, then drive out in the desert and cap them with the Desert Eagle (except Barbara, who got the flamethrower).

So I hope GTA4 is a bit tighter in that respect but still retains the expansive gameplay of SA.

So glad I bought a 360 2 weeks ago. Can't deny I am enjoying playing games on my 32 inch bravia while sitting back on my bed. Compared to hunched over my PC monitor :|

Nowt stopping you from having ya pc getting a VGA connection to that bravia + a wireless dongle for ya 360 controller. :p

Anyways i have me special edition coming on monday hopefully.. ;)

You know. I hate to say it... But I think that its ******* insulting to the whole pc gaming community that a pc version of GTA IV isn't even listed as a pre order anywhere at the moment. I mean.. lets get things straight. Wasn't the very first GTA game only ever released for the pc to begin with?
I just dont get the logic behind the marketing people sometimes. We pay at least twice the ammount for our systems compared to consoles, because we all have a common interest and passion for gaming. And at the end of the day.. when such a major title is release.. no where in sight is there a mention for a release date for the pc version.. I know this rant is falling on deaf ears. But I'm ****ed... :D

We may pay twice as much for the hardware, but console gamers pay twice as much (if not 100% more in some cases ;) ) for the games, which is where it counts.

Same here mate... its quite sad really.... I want to buy a PS3/XBox360 just for this game! :S

lol, yep. Although I would probably make use of Blu-ray and a few of the driving games available, but that's probably all and I'm just not sure that's worth the £300+ price tag.

bingo bongo. now ask yourself: what's going to earn them more profit?

Console games are more expensive as the games subsidise the hardware

They'll make far more money making it for consoles simply as far more people have consoles against gaming PCs. Most PCs are just used for internet access, music, photos, etc and have integrated graphics - why else would Intel have the largest market share?
