GTA4-yet another good looking Gfx mod!

People said here that Steam GTA4 auto updates. I havent played in a while but I looked at mine and its set not to update. Fairly sure I have the older version still ?

I last played Feb, it went to the game menu anyway after a bit of fiddling



I only ever played it on dual core so I mean to look when I got time. The multiplayer was never really that busy that I saw
I will install that realistic driving, I rate gta as ok anyway and I dont think a 4870 needs the graphics modded up it just be nice to play above 30fps

Check what version you have then...

I'm not sure what you mean here. The original graphics have aged and this just bring the graphics up to date so it looks like you're playing with the graphics equivalent of Metro 2033 (kinda).
 
Got it all sorted now, downgraded to 1.0.4.0 and stays that way with steam, and got the ICEnhancer working fine, with good fps. Got a few problems though, game seems really yellow, and sometimes its way too bright (apparently this is a ICEnhancer problem). also installed a road texture pack.

Anyone know a good car pack? I see people with real cars in videos?
 
So how did you get around your issue with the Rockstart Social folders not being created? Did you just forget to change the folder name?

That sounds exactly the same as when you don't bother with the 1.0.4.0 patch. I bet the patch didn't do anything.

No, it runs fine, and right clicking my exe reveals that its 1.0.4.0. You have to run the tool as windows vista SP2, works fine.

I just ****ed my install up though with a crap mod so gotta do it again. It did look insane but ye just abit yellowy
 
Cool! I'll give this a whirl right now then. I'll let you know how it compares to the 1.0.7.0 mod install.

Hum,, I've not had that? This is what I do:

1) Copy GTAIV folder to desktop (backup)
2) Rename your GTAIV folder in steam to GTAIV_OLD
3) Download this http://www.gamefront.com/files/14266711/gtaiv_patch_1040_zip and this http://media.rockstargames.com/IV/PC/RSGSC/RGSC_1_1_3_0.rar
4) Install the 1.0.04 patch
5) Run the tool (right click, properties, compatibility, vista service pack 2 and run as admin)
6) In your steam directory you should now have GTAIV and GTAIV_OLD. Copy the files from GTAIV and paste into GTAIV_Old, you should be prompted to replace files, do it.
7) Install ICEnhancer
 
Ah forget it. I tried everything you said and I'm just getting an error with an unrecognise rockstar social folder. I hit play offline when that screen comes up so I'm guessing if I create an account and load what ever is required it will start to work.

I'm really happy with the graphic quality right now (with the bright lights and occational bloom) as it stands so I'm not going to mess with it.

I'd really be interested in seeing an ACTUAL screen shot from your system though Ewaf.
