GTX 1060

Did you guys read the full article.

NVIDIA’s GTX 1060 will be available on 19th July around the globe at a starting price of $249 US for the custom models while the founders edition which will be the reference model will be available for a price of $299 US.

The Flanders edition is $299. Sure there might be the odd cheap card but i would be looking more at $299 than $249. I very much doubt the custom models will be a whole lot cheaper than the Flanders.

Doomed? lol They have already shifted 25x more 480s than 1080s. I don't think it's doomed.

That's going to be obvious considering you are comparing a low end card to a high end card obviously its going to sell more thats nothing new. This card seems like its going to be more powerful and more power efficient for the same price bad news for AMD.

Except the 480 starts at $199 which is a lot more than 15% cheaper

AMD sold a few units of those probably to be able to say they have something under $200. As far as I've heard they are not making anymore. It was great for those who bought a 4 gb card and flashed it to 8, not so great for AMD though who are losing money on those fake 4gb cards.

This card will outsell anything AMD has purely because it has "NVidia" Written on the box, like it or not, its a fact. People will buy it purely because its Nvidia, even if it turns out to be no better than the 480, or even if it loses against the 480 in DX12 or whatever...

Thats the way it is.... the wait goes on for a decent AMD product at the top end, im starting to wonder if they will ever be competitive again.

Just to round up, the rumours so far are:

The 3GB one will be as expensive as the 8GB RX480.

The 3GB and possibly the 6GB one will not be able to do SLi.

The power phases are only 3+1 on standard cards.

There will be a Founders Edition that will be $299.

They're using the GP104 core because the GP106 isn't ready.

They have sent out cards to try and spoil the 480 launch but did so with no drivers ready.

Did I miss anything?

hopefully, although I've watched quite a few videos lately from various AMD and Sapphire people who showed a complete lack of understanding of markets and gamers and performance. Hopefully they will realize they do need something a lot better pretty soon.

Well the gigbyte g1 is good with 6+1 but they act like its something good when it should be standard if amd can do it as standard on their 480 ref cards. If ppl buy a ref 1060 then its bad as i presume it wont be as good for ocing. Unless im wrong about what high power phase is good for.

The 1060 will likely use a lot less power then the 480 so it probably doesn't need as many power phases. I doubt it will be an issue.

US PRICE = €/sterling PRICE + 20/22% tax.....

i urge people to buy RX480 instead of 1060....or see benchmarks and decide later.
