Vram used Ultra settings FOV 90 Campaign

1080 = 2474 used

1600 = 3167 used

This does not mean a card with less vram will suffer a frame rate loss at all.

The GPU will keep onboard absolutely all data unless it needs to clear it out when it is nearing the vram limit (actual garbage collection algorithms will be significantly more complex than this but you get the idea).

So in the above examples the data stored will contain lots of textures and scene data that is now obsolete and could be cleared out for ~zero cost if needed

I'm so glad someone else shares this thought - I used to think it was just me! I only use my PC to game. All my work is done on my laptop, so whilst I appreciate the extra desktop space is a no-brainer for most, if you game and do little else - maybe some surfing etc, the move to 1440p is poor at best, especially when you consider the extra gpu grunt needed for gaming at high fps over 1080p.

Well I certainly disagree... I made the step from 1200p to 1440p and the textures in 1440 are sharper, vibrant and more crisp. In flight simulations flying above ground I see great improvement in sharpness.

When you are in SLI you only get 6GB of ram because the cards are mirrored so you are still going to run out of core clock power. Even if you had 10 cards in SLI the same rules apply.
This is the opposite of AMD cards which utilize all the ram.

Your wrong,Even if you have 3 Titans the core will run out first as its mirrored in the same way as the Vram. I know this from having 2x690's i ran out of vram before i even maxxed out the stock clocks.

Hadn't actually read all of what was said back there until now people had posted in reply.

I don't know what you're trying to say, can you elaborate?
Check this and tell me if you really mean "the core will run out first as its mirrored in the same way as the Vram" : http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/391

I agree with this but then it might also be compounded by the fact that most people that jump to a 1440p monitor go for a bigger one with a better quality panel in it. I went from a 24" 144hz benq to a 27" 1440p PLS and the difference is phenomenal. How much is due to the fact that the benq was the worst tn panel I've even used I don't know. All I know is I wont go back.

Instead of trying to be smart i suggest you go read up on how Nvidia cards work because you obviously dont have a clue. I suppose your another one that gets onboard the hype train.

God I love this post :D

So I'm right in thinking this guy is saying if you have 3 290x in trifire you have 12GB of usable vram yes? :D

Just like i said months and months ago that afully fledged GK110 with all smx clusters enabled WILL be released. This will be a true successor to the Titan.....Next.:D

You are still wrong here, sorry. It's not going to be the sucessor to the Titan. It's going to be a successor to the 780. The true sucessor to the Titan is the Quadro K6000. I am pretty sure all the DP functionality will be gimped in the 780Ti.

On another note, it's a little early to say you called it, when the card isn't actually out yet and the specs listed are rumours.

Our reasons for some of us saying that it wouldn't be released with all SMX cores enabled are still valid. If you look at the 780 and the Titan, the extra 2 SMX cores don't seem to make that much difference in games. But they do seem to reduce clock speed. And lastly the chip would need to be nearly perfect to be able to get all 15SMX cores working. Are they really going to waste their best silicon on a £600 graphic card when they need them for their £6000 quadro card?

I am probably wrong, but I still don't think they will release a card with all 15 SMX cores enabled. I think it will be either 13 or 14 SMX core card with higher stock and boost clocks than the 780.

We shall see in 7 days.

I'd agree with this. I went from 1080p TN to 1440p IPS and I couldn't be happier. I really appreciate the extra space on the desktop for work purposes. Games to me are also better looking. The IPS also gives much better and vibrant colours. Would never go back to TN. Can't imagine I'd be getting a 4K screen anytime soon but I would maybe consider a 120Hz screen though. Would love a 4K TV though!

Permaban? was he that annoying?

Damn it - I missed it sounded like fun. Ah well back on topic :D.

His post that resulted in a ban was immature, rude and frankly disappointing.

I was actually hoping to find out what he meant because i don't have a complete grasp on SLi and i thought i was trying to raise a valid point.
But the norm in OcUK Graphics, things got out of hand :p

Maybe but I'm assuming it will be the new stepping of the GK110? Will probably clock better then the titans at least.

A new stepping you say? Is this in the form of a efficiency boost in fabrication?

The moment the 780 prices finally become really good, we hear about a Ghz edition and the Ti is close too, what to do what to do!
