Halal, is it meat you're looking for?

Oh wait... no it isn't.

Vast majority of indian restaurants and take aways are owned by bangladeshi or pakistanis

But that only refers to the country of origin? They could be Christian or Atheists? So no need for Halal / Kosher?

I have never given thought to it much tbh. But if most curry houses do indeed serve halal then I have leanrt something new. :)

Depends on the definition of what a curry is though; if you're talking about a thick patek jar gravy like sauce then it's not really 'desi' indian is it.... therefore it won't always be halal. A popular punjabi restaurant near me doesn't serve it.

All I care about is if the animal has been reared ethically and how the meat tastes.

Whether the chicken is stunned, decapitated, and immersed in boiling water (Halal), or stunned, put in boiling water and then decapitated (standard) I really don't care. In fact, i think I prefer the Halal method.

Yep

You ignored this bit

"colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins"

It is not solely about race, therefore what you said was wrong, accept it and move on.

Either way it clearly states Muslims are a religious group, not a race as you have stated.

So far as the Qur'an and most sects of Islam are concerned these aren't Muslims but Extremists who have twisted the word of god to their own selfish ends.

Not as scared as the morons in that picture who can not show their faces while touting their hatred.

Both exactly right, but the media has done a great job of making out that most Muslims are like this. Making regular people scraed to say anything. Some of the blame can be laid at the feet at Moderate Muslims community leaders for not speaking out more often against these types. For the good or bad it does The Archbishop of Canterbury is in the news almost every other week, at least he speaks out

Unless Moderate Muslims community leaders take control of the situation then that picture will remain the face of Islam in the UK

That's where it gets blury, and I get confused. Proper Halal is not stunned and should not be stunned. However in the UK most of the 'halal' meat is stunned, to comply with our food regulations.

So people who want to eat halal, are not strictly eating halal. And people who do not want to eat halal, are getting bent out of shape over something that perhaps isn't strictly halal anyways?

To quote Russell Brand on the subject.

If you have an issue with how your animals are treated and killed perhaps you should consider becoming a vegetarian instead of a racist.

Actually the vast majority of Indian restaurants are run by Indians and will probably be either Sikh or Hindu rather than Muslim, Curry Houses on the other hand the vast majority are Bangladeshi or Pakistani's and thus most likely Muslim.

Considering many Hindu's and Sikhs are veggies, you will find the vast majority of indian restaurants being owned by Bangladeshi's and Pakistanis. Most of the public who is in uproar about Halal wouldnt be able to tell the difference between a curry house or a indian restaurant. Yes there are indian restaurants run by Hindu's and Sikhs, but they are far from the majority.

Almost sums it up. However, as a consumer, if like me you don't want to eat Halal, how are you to know that the meat you buy (if Halal) was stunned or not stunned ? Currently the labelling, where it exists, just denotes Halal.
