I kind of get the argument about not compromising the quality of your work but the reality is there is plenty of space to work within tolerances and get a great image taking into account that many many people will not see a movie using ultra specialised equipment.

I've got a fairly reasonable home cinema setup and it has some calibration, etc. but it would still probably fail a fair few standards despite generally giving a high quality result.

Hopefully Disney and Kennedy realise that after the garbage that was TLJ that the fans arent going to settle for this dross any more.

They won’t realise that unless sacked. They will say fans don’t like these male led, old character films therefore we need more SJW / identity politics stuff.

I really thought the film would do better at the box office.

Oh they "know". They just don't or won't want to believe it. Instead prefering to pass the buck until it hits something else and until that new buck is proven to be not the issue. Then it just starts all over again. Seriously, how many "reasons" have been put forth as the reason why it's failed (and subsequently seen as nothing more than smokescreen being thrown about), but not the finger at themselves?

I'm fairly certain, not matter what the result of any outcome was, that Disney has had this talk with Lucasfilm. It's now just a matter of how dumb Disney needs to go (WB DCEU levels, or worse), before they step in proper and do something about it.

My problem isn't the SJW stuff in itself, just how horribly heavy handed it is... Have a subtle underlying theme about animal rights or slavery or rich vs. poor or gender if you must, but don't absolutely bludgeon the audience over the head with it until it destroys the illusion of the world the movie has built... TFA wasn't actually too bad in that regard, but TLJ was way too on-the-nose about it (as was Lando's robot in Solo)

Knowing Disney they'll just shoehorn more sjw crap into the next movie.

Was going to say the same thing, they will twist this round to some agenda like "Male lead films don't pall in the crowds as much as female lead films"...

I thoroughly enjoyed it as did my 9 year old. As with all of the new SW there have been things I could wind myself up about but I've just allowed myself to enjoy them and brush over the odd clanger (except luke's lactation nation beast fantasy scene, that was just wrong)

Or they take the lesson that the hugely successful TLJ was on the right track and Solo wasn't much cop. Or any of the other possible messages you can take from one film being super-successful but attracting vocal whining and another one doing poorly.

TLJ was never ever going to get near the box office near TFA.

That was an event movie. A sequel to the biggest trilogy of all time, the first proper Star Wars movie for 12 years etc.
