the only trouble i can find is when your veiwing from below the screen, it appears a bit darker

I'd like to see a few more angles please ;)

Hi there

Superb viewing angles for a TN based monitor, especially the vertical ones, shows how good the Hannstar TN panel really is. :)

Viewing angles seem fine to me also.

I must admit I dont understand the whole viewing angle thing as I sit infront of my monitor and don't hang from the ceiling like spiderman.

Could somebody explain why these angles are actually important?

Viewing angles are important because even when you're sitting directly in front of the monitor you're still seeing parts of the screen (edges and corners) at an angle. On TN panels that means colours change over the area of the screen - a solid blue picture would, for example, take on a purple tint at the corners of the screen and lighten toward the top and bottom edges. How bad this shows up varies between panels, and generally it gets worse he larger the screen.

VA and IPS panels have much wider viewing angles and so don't suffer from his problem (although they have their own set of problems).

You might be better off waiting, I got burned also. Bought it for £250 ex vat, within 2 days it was down to £219 ex vat. Wasn't too happy about that but I suppose thats the way it goes! Its a very good, very big monitor for not a lot of money. Can't complain. And 360 looks a lot better via VGA on it, and that was my one problem with it. 1:1 would still be good but ah well.

Well it went down to £219 again this morning, so I ordered it :p

Should be here tomorrow with the good old free next day delivery!

I got mine ex vat though :p

Its a nice piece of kit, looking to buy Bioshock on the cheap today for 360 to check it out in all its HD glory, played it on PC back when it was out, but my x1800 mobility can't quite do it total justice.

One question: anyone get a band of backlight bleed across the centre? I can only notice when the screen is pure black, but still.

Ordered as well today - should put my 4870's in CF to better use than my 22" monitor ;-)

Is there no pc software tha could add black bars to a 1080p image to prevent stretching? If that is possible I'd probably be interested.

Well looking at my Catalyst Control Centre, it looks I can force my card to centre the image on the monitor at native res so I'll order one once my money's in the bank tomorrow! Happy days:D

You will not be disappointed. Although sitting so close to a big screen I do worry about the little swimmers getting erradiated :)

I got this monitor and for the most part it is great. The size, crispness, response etc are good. For videos and games this thing is very impressive.

The bad points:
- Build quality is not the best, but easy enough to live with
- To my eyes there is some colour banding but only really noticeable if you have smooth gradient pictures - everyday viewing is okay.
- Some wash out of colours

I was originally after a large monitor with great colour reproduction (in particular with regards to banding), but for my budget I had to make a compromise. For the price and size it is a compromise I am more than happy to live with.

I am starting to get very tempted by this monitor, but first would like some dimensions to work with.

Could someone who has the monitor please measure the following:

1. Height from the bottom of the bezel to the top.
2. Width from the left of the bezel to the right.
3. The distance from the bottom of the stand to the bottom of the screen (not bezel) when the stand is fully down.
4. The distance from the bottom of the stand to the bottom of the screen (not bezel) when the stand is fully up.

Thanks a lot in advance!!!!!

The bezel is about 35mm thick all around

1. 445mm
2. 665mm
3. 470mm
4. 535mm

I got mine on Friday one problem i have been having is the colors seem to be very saturated but not been able to fix it as of yet just wondering what everyone else has as their color settings just now? Mines arrived with one stuck pixel but i think i can live with that

For small people like me it's quite important, when I sit down a bit the screen gets too dark, when i move up the screen gets too bright...

Anyways, I want this screen but it's out of stock everywhere here...

Now I need some info if I want to order this from ocuk to here:

What will happen if it's borked?
What's ocuk's policy towards dead pixels?
And how long would it take to get here to the NL and are there no further costs involved from importing it ?

Basically my dad needs to buy it for me as he promised me one but he refuses to buy it from abroad saying it's asking for trouble...
