Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

Mine got delivered today, but I can't get it working.

The blue power light comes on when I plug it in, and that's all that happens. The backlights don't seem to come on, can't get the OSD or anything. It gets recognised in windows alright when I run a dual desktop, I can choose resolution to run it at, and can extend the desktop to it, but it always stays black. If the pc goes in to standby mode, then the blue light goes orange, when the pc wakes up again, the light goes blue, so I don't think its stuck in standby. It never gets warm either. So it looks like it should be working, it just isn't.

In the manual, it says ' This monitor will appear non-functional if there is no video input signal.'

Shouldn't I be getting a 'no signal' message at the very least? Have tried both DVI/HDMI cable and vga. Graphics card is an old agp radeon 9550, supposed to be good for 1920x1200. Have a satellite tv card in the pc, got the big monitor for tv viewing. Using XP.

DOA?

Can someone tell me if the backlight should come on when you press the on button, and it's not connected to a computer, only to the mains?

RMA it and get a replacement.

Had mine a month and not aproblem, no stuck pixels and movies look fantastic using my LG Bluray/HD-DVD combo.

After seeing Toker's HG281 running Guild Wars, CoD4 and Bioshock, every other monitor in my price range just seemed grim.
Finally picked up one of these today, for £280 I thought it seemed an alright deal. Best purchase ever! Had to turn the brightness down a bit after turning it on but everything just looks so great on it.
Definately recommend this monitor! :D

Emlyn learned the hard way that this monitor isn't ideal for buying in a shop and carrying a mile or so home

IS it possible someone could post some photo's showing the vertical viewing angles? I am interested, but as I sometimes watch movies in bed, I want to know just how bad looking up at the screen might be.

I don't need it........I can live without it.......I am happy withmy Samsung 19".............. but the more I look at the Hanns-G 28", the more I want it!!!!:D
