Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

It is a cracking monitor for the price! :D If only it had 1:1 mapping I would have saved myself £100 or so buying the ViewSonic 28', they use the same screen panel and I cannot pick any faults whatsoever :)

I was all set for buying this monitor by the end of the week, but I notice the price of it has rocketed up closer to £300 now! Not such a bargain at that price I feel.

I just got mine this morning and it's more than i expected for the price, Well worth it.
My last monitor was a 24" samsung and tbh i didn't think this would be a patch on it from what i read but it walks over it,If your thinking of buying one just do it...you won't be disappointed.

I was worried buying this monitor, it was between getting a 24in or this one, and i'm more than happy with it. The default brightness setting were very high, i have to put my sun glasses on to adjust the settings lol

was about to click the buy button on this but its rocketed up in price even more :( gone up like £50 ion the past 2 weeks!!! :(

I';ve been looking at this screen for a while and I want to know how bad the lack of 1:1 pixel mapping will affect watching HD (1080p) movies, as I am not a gamer, will this be a major issue? Could someone post a photo of the screen stretching the image?

Do you mean from a PS3 or a PC? From a PC will be fine as your software will just make the black bars bigger, from a ps3 some stretching will be evident. Its not enough to drive you mad but is noticeable.

Well I was just going to use an internal blu-ray drive, so I guess i should be fine then?

I have to say i may have been to quick with my previous recomendation. I ordered two of these screens for myself and the missus. In the space of 2 weeks, BOTH have developed a stuck pixel and this morning mine developed a bright pink line from top to bottom of the screen meaning a warrenty swap.

Not impressed with this happening to both and it brings into question the build quality. I dont expect MUCH for the price but i did expect reliability.

Have a lot of people had reliability problems with these screens?

I was considering one (once they are on "This Week Only" again so that they're a bit cheaper) but had 6 returns of the OCuk value 24" DGM monitors and don't want a repeat of that.

no problems here, had it just over a month so far

Run with a Gainward HD3870 XT?

How would this monitor fair with a Gainward HD3870 XT 512,I play TF2 and COD4 .I would also be using it with a Macbook Pro for photography workflow.I may go crossfire with the 3870XT when I hit the buy button for this LCD.
I`ll have to sweet talk tommysmum tho, It will be an almighty task,at the moment I have picture but no sound :D

Thanks in advance

I dont know how your card compares to my 8800 GTS 320mb but i can just about get away with cod4 in max on the highest resolution, but the fps does drop a bit when stuff gets very crazy
