Hard Drive Pricing going up at an alarming rate!!!!

Pricing is starting to become uniform between most etailers sites now. I have just checked a handful of lines on our competitors sites and they are quickly approaching our pricing. I can see the price of drives increasing again at points tomorrow. The same goes for following weeks. :(

Sorry ocuk... Don't hate me... But....

Wd30ezrx found for 115 inc vat and delivery.....

Hint: south american river/region

Still have stock.. Not sure for how long

Still lovin' the OC

I think i may go back to a 120GB Quantum, as the more HDD space i have the more i fill it with rubbish. I would just turn a 2TB drive into a Data-Landfill ;p

Glad I bought a 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive last week!

Tempted to buy another one now!

Holy ****! I bought that 2TB Drive for £80 from another store and it's now £122!!! Wow.

FFS, specced a system up yesterday, went to buy today and it's ~£50 more expensive :( And there's no more Logitech vouchers on here :( Ah well, win some, lose some ;):)

:( Bad news for all. Might need to hunt round was planning on getting a 3TB for storage for my new build.

Yeah saw this on the reg earlier. It's going to go crazy.
I just raced over to a comptetitor (sorry OCUK) and checked out as soon as I could for the cheapest 2TB I could find that was any good. I think it's an older model and not the quickest, but frankly I don't care. It was under £60 with free delivery and will be amongst various other mixed 2TB drives in a server.
I noticed a Samsung 2TB drive at the same place jump £5 in cost during the time I checked out!

I also phoned 1 of the 3 people I am doing builds for told them to buy a drive tonight asap. I think prices are going to sky rocket. :(

Well in a panic I just bought 2x 2TB Seagate Barracuda's for 108quid
(sorry OCUK you know I love giving you my money :) but times are tough eh)

What?? where?
Those are typically "instore only" deals at supermarkets, they're lossleaders designed to increase footfall across the stores nationwide when the "deals" (probably actually existing in one or two stores at most) are posted on HUKD by well-meaning muppets (or possibly even by the supermarket staff themselves pretending to be customers).

The idea is that you might go along to your local [supermarket running the offer] for your weekly food shop instead of [insert other supermarket where you normally go], in the hope of finding one of these "bargains"... needless to say you'll be disappointed, but you'll probably go on and do your food shopping there anyway to save yourself the effort of going somewhere else. :)

Wow theyve launched up!

So have processors it seems! :(

Hard drives - Sky rocketing!
Processors - Intel warned of shortages so prices creeping up.
GTX 580's - Look set to rocket too, massive shortages looming.

The only one thats not happened which normally happens around now is memory pricing doubling, it still stupidly cheap.

On the bright side I've got around 10 drives sitting on the shelf... Might as well sell up

Thats what everyone is doing.

One of the UK major distributors had 1000's in stock yesterday, OcUK went to buy some. Normally we'd be sold the drives at their cost plus 1-2%.

However on this occaison they added an artificial $10 to their cost and instead of then adding 1-2%, they are adding 20-25% margin and only willing to sell upto 20 units of each model per customer. By the end of the day they had SOLD OUT.

This has really put a dent in my bid to build my first PC in 2 months :(

Any idea of when these prices may go back to normal/fall a bit?

Q1 2012 is when shipments look to start again with pricing not looking to recover for a number of Quarters according to WD.

I wouldnt be suprised if HDD didnt sort its self out until perhaps March next year.
