Hard Drive Pricing going up at an alarming rate!!!!

I call secret collusion between OCUK and competitors! :) Anti-competitive behaviour and what not!

All jokes aside though, this is a total bummer, especially if as Gibbo says, Intel are hitting shortages on the 2500k and 580 shortages as well.... So glad I've got my build up already!

Intel and NVIDIA I suspect their shortages are due to them changing to make new parts coming later this year. ;)
Or possibly very very large SI orders clearing them out from the likes of places like DELL.

There's a shortage on bread guys, get your kingsmill and hovis while you can - expect to see prices tripling in the coming weeks!

Supermarkets may not have altered pricing yet, but this is probably due to old stock. IF you see a deal on bread, buy it while you can!

:p

Gibbo, obviously you're on NDA, but I don't suppose you can tell us roughly when you 'expect' (;) that new parts from Intel might show up, in terms of rough region.

I know its probably going to be a negative :D

SOON! But they are extreme chips, so very expensive, so all current CPU's are remaining in the lineup, apart from 990X and I7 980. :)

Urgh been looking at building a new computer for about a month now and as im just about happy with the price everything shoots up :( typical

1TB is still the price point for me, tempted by the 500GB Hybrid drive though.

2TB were the cheapest per GB storage drives recently.

£55 for Samsung F4 was the going price whilst Samsung F3 1TB (a faster drive) was around £40 most of the time.

Most of the other drives were either not as reliable, not value for money or couldn't match the performance of Samsungs.

I've recently switched to Samsung drives after having 2 Seagates fail.

I'm not keen on 2TB though, seems too much data on 1 drive...

Edit: Also the RPM speed is a lot lower.

Gibbo, did you guys get any news on the 2700K? Any chance to tell us if the prices because of the launch will stay the same or go down?

Well I'm cool.

6TB to keep me entertained.

Got two F4s for about £54ea and a WD Black for little over twice that.

I can't believe a Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB could get up to £300 though.

You won't get told the price until it goes up for sale.

I dont need to know it lol
just if intel wants to put it up there for more than 2600K and keep the current pricing or replace 2600K with the new top model at the 2600K price tag making it a bit more wallet friendly ;)

Damn, i'm glad i bought those replacement laptop drives a month ago and that extra storage for the desktop back in may instead of waiting till Christmas

I'll bet prices won't return to their pre-disaster levels until June 2012.
