When you go in to the BIOS and load XMP,, then save+exit, does it go to the desktop without issues?
But if you restart or power off and power on, it fails?

I tested it...from default values...
When I load xmp it bumps the core clock to 125 and it bumps the clock to 3.8ghz from stock....
At this setting I got hangs....
@ 100 x 44 1.275 v core it's rock solid at 2666mhz....change it to 2800mhz at it hangs....in windoze...
edit@ It may be another settings in the bios I have sorted out yet...There are so many settings compared to X58

Depends if you want all the extra's or not.
But the -s is doing me fine. Couldnt complain at the price it was.

I know they are different boards but worth checking what SA voltage the board is trying to give when it bumps up to 125 BCLK.
Too much can cause instabilities. My board wants to give it 1.168v @ 125 blk
but its totally stable at 1.032v.

More system agent voltage can help with high speed ram.

Agreed, but with it set to Auto it can also give it too much which can also cause problems

That's it now guys it's official. 
Just ordered a new Gigabyte GA-X99-Gaming G1 + 5820K (not from OC) to go with the Kingston Predator 16GB DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz that I bought from MM last week.
Looking forward to it.
I was thinking of getting a 5830K but after reading about it's only useful if your using 4x gfx cards due to 40 lanes. That's something I will never do as max I only run 2 gfx cards. So the 5830K would have been a waste of money and from what I can tell the 5820K overclocks just the same but is a lot more bang for buck!
Won't be here till Monday though. should have ordered it yesterday! lol
Will need to get my X58 parts ready for sale now. It's a legendary setup that's I'll never forget, will be missed as it's a banging setup 6+ years on. Only reason I am going X99 is just to play with something new really (and because I said I would upgrade if Easyrider did) Have to say these UEFI bios's sure look funky and will need some getting used to! haha

youll love it , some great stuff to mess about with on this platform. Chips are actually the coolest things I've used in donkeys for what is is , well befor my phenom days at least ... I think most boards may provide an old no uefi bios layout aswell , I still don't like the GUI in virtually any .
Only thing I regret about my choice is my mobo ( asus pro ) but I'm sure that when it's back from RMA it'll be fine .

Sure I'll get used to the UEFI bios, its just fancy GUI really. At least it's modern looking coming from the old school bios I've been using forever!
I could have got a cheaper Gigabyte board in the range but I fancied the Gigabyte GA-X99-Gaming G1 as it's got good reviews (and loads of accessories!). So I went premium!

Have got the opportunity to move to x99 for not too much. Will be 5930k , RVE and 16gb c16 2800. I'm happy with my current setup and know I won't see more fps in most games, I'm just interested in the platform and the longevity. Any moved and have regrets or opinions?

What sort of volts are being running to get 4.5ghz stable on a 5820k?
1.3v wasn't enough for my chip last night, but temps were under 70 degrees so probably have the headroom to go a bit higher?

4.5 with 1.265v, 90mins of real bench, couple of 10 pass runs on very high IBT no problem. But BSOD within 30 seconds of Prime95 v28.4

Anything that'll survive a single run of something would be a good start.
I think I've got a bit of a duffer to be honest, but saying that I've not changed anything bar the multiplier and the voltage. Guides I've read on the Rampage V say to start there as the board is very good at dialling everything else in automatically.
Totally contra to how I've overclocked in the past.

If yours is on auto it may already have been raised but VCCIN set to 1.9v help me getting 4400 (125.8 x 34) stable without having to raise the vcore too much.

Been having some fun tweaking this X99. Not too bad once you get your head around the bios.
Running lovely and stable @4.4Ghz at the moment. Runs 4.5 no problem either.
As you can see I went for a 5930K in the end. . .
Feels really snappy, I like it a lot!
Cinebench run gives me 1317cb
Destroys my old Xeon
Still need to tweak the memory and can lower my vcore a bit too.
Runs really cool on water, quite impressed with the temps.
Running lovely and stable @4.4Ghz at the moment. Runs 4.5 no problem either.
