If there isn't a need to show your face then the correct answer should have been 'you're welcome to wear your scalf around your face if you like, it's only a metal detector'

Personally I think the secuirty guards in question probably need a holiday to chill the **** out, it was meant as a joke and some idiot took offense to it.

I agree cheets, although I wouldn't have said it quite so bluntly. England is far to relaxed and accommodating to other cultures, if we go to certain countries in the middle east we're not allowed to do certain things (Like eat during a certain time of day) because it's their country, their rules, doesn't apply in England though

This, it clearly wasn't racist. Either ignore it, or educate that this is only a security check, not an identity check. Just waste of everyone's time and guard needs more training.

I see where the guy is coming from and it certainly wasn't racist (religion =/ race...) but what is wrong with someone covering their face when going through security, it's not for checking identity, just for checking to see if you have anything dodgy.

becuase most people don't think like that. It's a security check so it must be both. Little education would have been more than enough.

On the other hand (playing DA a little here) it could be said security should be able to see people faces and expressions to see if they are looking nervous/trying to hide something. A Burqa would be very useful if you were trying to smuggle something past security and were rather nervous.:p

Wait I am the bad guy but this woman has the to wear the burka because her husband will lash her if any part of her skin is seen in public, Muslim men like oppressing women, no place in society for it.

Wouldn't it be a lot simpler if you simply had to take veils off at the ENTRANCE door of an airport, and had to keep them off until the EXIT of the destination airport?
