Have things got out of hand?

I think most French people just shrugged and went on with their lives. :p

Becuase most people don't cover their face in public.
But things like rioters could instantly be arrested, as could gangs hanging around on street corners, if they hid their face and so on.

Especially muslims too. It's a strange misconception.

I agree about your second point.

Who says you're not carrying knives and explosives in your underpants?

White, Britsh, middle class, non-religious, lazy person, I wouldn't go to the effort of making an explosive or even attempting to sneak a knife aboard a plane just to make a point, I'd rather just post angrily on a forum, it's far easier and less likely to land me in prision.

Burkas always make me think of the Sand People in Star Wars lol

On another note, seems this thread gone down the pan

And most muslims don't cover their face in public too.

Where has what I said got anything to do with Muslims?

Or are Muslims not part of the public? Is it only Muslims who hang out as gangs on street corners and is it only Muslims who riots.

Try reading posts, rather than jumping to stupid conclusions.

I edited my post to not sound ambiguous. But we were talking about banning veils and so forth, so keep up.

I wasn't and that was clear from my first post you wuoted, so keep up. As well as that the thread says the France ban was not just against Muslims but all face hiding.

ffs, I edited my post so it didn't sound like I was saying they weren't people, that wasn't my point at all but good knee jerking.

The burka has no other use to hide identity and oppress women, knifes are used for hunting, cooking all sorts of things.

Not sure is serious

I agree that it is to hide their identity, if the person wearing it is happy then its their decision, however i do care that people getting on planes are properly searched

Done with this thread, we are going round in circles, you are liberal, I am not.

Ironically you are the liberal telling people that there is a certain appearance/culture for public life and expression is only allowed in the private as to not offend anyone else...

It is less liberal to go on about how there should be no difference between the public and private.

Just saying

Everyone has the right to wear what they want in public, whether its a dude in a skirt, a burka or a pink flurry hat.

The issue is about security, the media has built up this massive issue about every muslim or person from somewhere-istan being a terrorist when it simply isn't true. Everyone at the airport should be subjected to the same searches and security procedures regardless of what colour their skin is, what clothes they wear or what religion they are, this is about public safety and if that means I have to take my belt and shoes off, and put my stuff in an xray machine, then so should everyone else.

Simple as that.

It is simple as that...

But people are scared to say what they want and what is right, EXACTLY like this guy did. Where did it get him, in trouble,

I dont care what other people do, can walk around with a bucket on their head for all i care. I do expect to board a plane knowing everyone is searched and ID'd.

Its just common sense, yet people start chucking all sorts into the mix because of the society we have created.

Its a sad state of affairs. :(
