Hazro - Any Update?

Slight off topic (again - sorry!), would anyone know what the input lag for a Dell 2001FP is? Yes, I know it's really old (it's my current monitor) and no one really knew much about "input lag" back then but I had serious problems adjusting to it after being a CRT gamer for so long (probably a combination of the 16ms response time coupled with a high input lag I'd imagine).

I'm just wondering how much of a difference I can expect moving over to a HZ26Wi?

Not for the Wi versions....have a look at TFT central's review of the HZ26Wi:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hazro_hz26wi.htm

Do you know of any other source that shows the Wi versions to be higher?

p.s. if anyone wants a cheep HZ24Wi...there's a B-grade one from OcUK for £350 inc vat!:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-001-HO

Edit: ...but it's in silver though....I prefer the black. + dunno what makes it "B-grade" and £100 off... ++ not sure if it's the v2.0/2.1 firmware either...

I ordered the black one but ended up with the silver one :( can't be bothered faffing to get the colour changed. It is version 1 firmware. So have submitted a query to Hazro via their website regarding upgrading the monitor but not heard back from them yet.

Hi Erix,

Was that the 24 or 26" you ordered?

Also did you order it as B-Grade or new?

Hi TerminatorUK

it was a 24" B-grade. I figured that as it was a monitor I'd been considering anyway I might as well go with the B-Grade as I was told the reason for the B-Grading would be that it has either been returned unwanted, damaged box or missing accessories. I can live with those options so long as the monitor was in brand new condition. I was also aware of the potential problems. I had hoped that OCUK wouldn't be knowingly sending out a product that they knew they'd had extensive problems with without first upgrading it, but nevermind, just wish it had been the right colour though

Sent Hazro a contact form this morning at 8:45 hoping they organise a collection for tomorrow but it is looking unlikely.

Eric

I thought it might be B-Grade as they state on their existing 'Brand New' stock that the Firmware is now v2.1

Still I'm assuming you got a nice deal for it being a b-grade monitor? I'm sure Hazro will help you return it to them for a firmware upgrade which I think is well worth the extra fuss.

Did you get a nice dead/bright pixel-free screen? :)

Yeah seem to good dead pixel wise, the screen is very bright though! I tried turning the brightness down but it only served to exagerate the banding and colour problems so it was hard to assess how good this'd be.

I'm hoping that once it is upgraded I'll have got myself a nice bargain. It is replacing 2 22" NEC Diamondtron CRTs so it has some living up to do. I am moving soon and wont have room for those monsters so I've been looking for a suitable replacement for a while now.

Just got an email from Hazro. They will recall the HZ26Wi monitors either this week or next week. Well, as tomorrow is Friday I guess next week is favourite! But this is the only screen I have and I can't send it back at the moment due to some work I have to complete. Grrrrr...

I have been reading through this thread, but some of it is a bit over my head. However, I'm interested in this monitor. I would like to order two of them to run in a dual monitor setup. If I don't have a calibration tool what problems am I likely to have with it? Also, at the moment there are 4 monitors in stock at OCUK - will they have been updated, or is it better to wait for a new batch?

Another question - I am going to use this monitor to run charting software for trading the financial markets, and other general use stuff. No gaming! Is this monitor overkill for this purpose?

Thanks.

All the new (not b-grade) 24" models should be version 2.1 and safe to order now. The 26" models are still yet to be recalled (but will be soon) so you'll need to wait a couple of weeks until that is complete (as they have banding issues at the moment.

For the purposes you are looking for, the Hazro might be a bit overkill to be honest; it may be worth looking at a good Dell widescreen where the higher input lag won't affect you but the clarity, colour reproduction, lower price and lack of 'issues' will be of greater benefit.

Hazro 24wi DDC/Ci not working!

Hello,
has anybody managed to control the RGB levels in any way, since the OSD controls have been disabled?

ColorEyes Display PRO does not recognize the monitor as DDC enabled, and under OSX I have no other tools to access the RGB parameters.

My monitor came back from Hazro quite 'cold', and my profilometer confirms the images are missing quite a bit of red. How do I fix that? Any suggestions? Thanks.

My 24" got picked up today by by the Feds (heh!).

The reason the RGB controls do not work is because 2 things:

1) The banding fix takes up more memory on the monitor than expected so the RGB controls had to be omitted to account for this extra memory usage.

2) For the above they went along the path that Apple took on their cinema displays which don't even have an OSD as everything is controlled via DDC/Ci through software.

Rolling on from point 2 I mentioned that DDC/Ci was confirmed as not working on both Vista for myself and others and that I had used 3 different pieces of calibration software to confirm this and that because it was not used it would explain why my calibration results came out better after adjusting RGB values on the monitor since DDC was unable to work correctly.

He confirmed this as odd and would be looked into. The snowing issue has been minimised it seems by shielding but to remove it a document will be provided for Powerstrip to adjust some frequencies for people to change to fix the snow issue who have it on their screens.

Your calibration suite should adjust the rgb values to get 6500K through the gfx LUT easily, mine didjust that.

My 'calibration suite' is just the software that was bundled with a colorvision SpyderPro2. That piece of software has given me satisfactory results, but requires me to adjust the RGB sliders, which now I can't do.
That's why I was giving ColorEyes Display Pro a try, because it's supposed to control the panel via DDC bypassing the need for OSD adjustments. But that doesn't seem to work!
Can you expand on your answer?
I appreciate your response. Thanks.

i just hooked up my ps3 via hdmi but have no sound, monitor voulme is set to 30, and mute is off. anybody know how i can get sound through the monitor?

You don't need to adjust RGB to get 6500K, that's just to get it closer so the software has to do less work.

If you choose 6500K in the pre-calibration screens it will adjust as needed to get 6500K with as small a deviation as possible (1-2%)

Monitor has no speakers :p it is a passthrough, you need to hook it up to speakers (better option IMO than onboard speakers)

Ok so I guess I'm the only one still getting some banding with this firmware, strange.

What about the backlight uniformity and the left side being much brighter than the right, did this sort itself out or are you guys still experiencing this?
