Hazro - Any Update?

I've just been through two HPs. Beware of the current batches of this model; they have noticable colour uniformity issues. Most people have green tints on the left, leading to red on the right. Everything else is perfect, but that's a deal-breaker for me (and many people on the Hard Forums). Image quality is the crucial part of a monitor's design, I'm sure you'll agree.

And thats why the HZ24Wi sounds like a colossal waste of £400 to me, having just read your comments. It's ridiculous that we, the customers who've laid down hard cash in the hopes of receiving a high quality product, have been turned into an unofficial QA team. I'll gladly buy a decent TN screen for half the price while I wait for a defect free revision (whenever that may be).

Moral of the story so far: DO NOT BUY HAZRO

Second moral of the story: possibly consider the Hazro brand in 2009, when they get their act together.

Third moral of the story: Buy this monitor if your name is mrk, you lucky devil.
;)

I'm at Uni as well. I'm mainly wanting this monitor for gaming, but obviously web browing and Word factor into my shedule heavily. I dont fancy sending monitor #4 back, for whatever reason. This time, it must be perfect. That said, I'll be interested to hear the reviews of this monitor in a December/post christmas scenario, when they'll likely have addressed the major issues. Thats why I'm keeping a close eye on this thread, and of OCUK's stock; things could change.

Has anyone else had their inputs shielded, like mrk? Surely this would be a good indication that Hazro understand the problem, and will be implementing a general fix soon, to all models?

dont think you can really say do not buy one without having owned one.

even with all its faults i wouldnt buy anything else. its beautiful and the screen is perfect. Ive found recently that switching inputs to something not in use tends to cure my green snow until the next time i power it up....

Yeah. That's part of what makes shopping for a new monitor such a nightmare. I have to make assumptions, given what I hear from other owners. That's all I have to go on.

Do Hazro showcase their monitors at technology fairs? Does anyone know if there are there any coming up?

I'm sure mrk would invite you in to see his if you ask nicely and are in the area :D

The other option is getting it and sending it back if it's not up to scratch, I'm on my 4th 24" monitor (And mrk has gone through about 6) in the search for perfection.

Hi All,
Just an update, just received a very nice very thick Belkin DVI cable and i can report NO, yes that was a NO, green pixels.
The display has been off since sunday but she seems to be cooking with gas now!
I will OBV keep and eye out and get back if then come back!
Still no reply from HAZRO or OCUK, which is pathetic.
I work in the photo retail trade and you just dont ignore complaints and querys from customers!
I for one would not buy from OCUK again. I think a week is plenty of time for an email response! Guess not.
Be Warned if you do buy one of these and it goes wrong you are on your own well apart from these forums!! I will call OCUK tomorrow to ask WHY!
Ben

120Hz has three advantages.

1) With games you can run 120fps if you really want to.

2) With video you can now interpolate additional frames in-between the originals to reduce the 'sample and hold' effect of motion smear. This a physiological issue and different people experience it differently. I personally suffer from motion smear slightly with fast moving scenes in video/films but don't like the fix of interpolation with films (and many others agree that it makes films look artificial) but some people like it for sports/60i material. Theoretically you could insert black frames in-between the 24 real frames to reproduce the effect seen with film at the cinema, but no one currently does this on PC (Sony do it with the SXRD TVs and projectors).

3) 24 frame per second material (like Blu-Ray, NTSC DVD (if deinterlaced correctly) can now be watched at even multiples instead of being forced to watch a 3:2 frame sequence.

Hopefully any panel which does 120hz will also be able to do 100hz, although it's not certain. This would help a great deal with watching PAL and European video-camera-based HD material.

For normal desktop usage, I wouldn't worry about the advantages of 120Hz as LCD works entirely differently from CRT in that it doesn't show any black area between frames. It basically leaves on the image until it changes.

Hope that helps
tt

Yes this does help a lot - many thanks!

I'm still looking to buy a HZ26Wi in the new year but keeping my ear to the ground in case there is a new version :)

Good to hear yours is all good Ben now!

I've also not seen any Greenishness in a long time!

Im looking at the Hazro HZ24Wi. How would it compare to the Dell ULTRASHARP 2408WFP? I dont have any calibration hardware of software. I will be using it for normal use like internet and gaming.

Ok between the 2408WFP:

The Hazro has better colours out of the box.
The Hazro has a better visual look, looks more professional
The Hazro has better text quality even after calibration it's still perfect
The Dell has a better stand and a more feature packed OSD

I have just started to look at the Hazro HZ24Wi. What's this about the firmwire. Could you please give me just a mini review on the Hazro HZ24Wi. I did have the Dell 2408WFP, but it had to much input lag. :( I like the glossy screen on the Hazro. Do you think it's worth £400 or would something like a Dell S2409w be good for £200.

Thank's

you could just read the thread mrk has done many mini reviews if you look carefully after firmware updates and new models and owing 5 other differnt 24"er's.

Bit off topic but I'm considering alternatives to the Hazro HZ26Wi as it's rather expensive now and not without it's problems.

The LG W2600HP-BF seems to be an excellent alternative (seems to be the same or very similar panel):

- Higher constant (1000:1 static, 5000:1 dynamic) and deeper black level (around 0.30 cd/m2)
- Better brightness ranges - 160-330 cd/m2
- Identical in terms of input lag (max 16ms but Hazro was max 20ms...I'm sure the averages are about the same)
- Good response time/no ghosting
- S-IPS based and wide gamut (think it's over 100% in this case...not sure if that's a good thing though from what I've read!)
- Not quite as good looking at the Hazro but still attractive + has height adjustment
- Not 100% sure about the connectivity options; this review shows it doesn't have HDMI/Component but some places list the screen as VGA/HDMI/Component
- Seller in Germany offering it for £200 cheaper than the Hazro HZ26Wi!

Review of screen from PRAD is here: http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/review/2008/review-lg-w2600hp.html

Any thoughts, views, comments?

DOA Power Brick

After following this thread for the better part of a month I decided to make the plunge and pick up a HZ24Wi. The first one OCUK sent out went missing in transit. The second one they shipped arrived a few days ago. I went to power it on and the power brick seems to be DOA. The LED on it doesn't light up or power the monitor and I've tried 3 different power leads to be sure that wasn't it either.

I sent an email to Hazro and OCUK. Hazro has yet to respond in 3 days, but it looks like OCUK will help me RMA the power brick after going back and forth with them.

I was prepared for some issues once it was up and running but unfortunately I haven't even made it to that point after first placing my order nearly one month ago. :( Will update with any progress and report this displays green snow situation if and when I get it powered on.

Hi Terminator, I too was/am looking at the LG too, just cant find any decent retailers in the UK that are stocking it. Apart from Pixmania (France} selling it for 599.
Have you found a well known stockist for it yet?

Update,
had a few apear today when i was using lightroom...:S
but turning monitor off then back on sorted it!

See, it's not the cable. Upgrading to a $50 cable won't help. I think it is more likely to be monitor related.

Oh yes, not forgetting the monumental inputlag on the Dell!

Don't forget

- HAZRO has many problems out of the box
- HAZRO customer service takes one week or two weeks to get back to you and i still have to experience how long a RMA case will take.
- HAZRO and quality control..... it is just way below zero.

Buying one of these monitors is a big lottery.

I regret reading all the positive messages by MRK.

The new cable did help thats for sure, it went from 100plus snow to about 2-4 max! The only thing i didnt notice last night was that the cable to the display was going over the power brick for my LaCie HDD and the LaCie.... I have since moved them so will report back if any changes!
I agree the Hazro has its problems, but even the HP with the high gamut has loads of problems! Now this should have been simple for the few mac users on here! BUY an APPLE DISPLAY, but the cost put me off them! The way i look at it i have a very nice looking display at half the price of the apple one and its an inch bigger!
These Firmware upgrades in Jan/Feb will they do that to all displays with the snow!? Will it sort it? I hope so! And hopefully sort the banding issue aswell. Tho i do have to say thats not been an issue in general use so far.
Mrk do u have the gradient banding on your "perfect" hazro?
