Hazro - Any Update?

hi,
The reason for using other cables was the oem ones gave the the dreeded green snow! Since changing to a dvi to hdmi cable the snow has gone! Anyone else tried this to fix the snow?

Guys, has anyone got any comments on the forthcoming 120hz LCD monitors (e.g. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/14.htm#cmo_panels) and if Hazro has any plans to "update" (is it possible?) their range to include the technology?

I wonder if 120hz would visably improve the ammount of frames actually rendered on the screen like it does on a CRT? I would think it wouldn't make huge ammounts of difference (expect where vsync is involved) as the image isn't "scanned" onto the display as such as all pixels display at once.

120Hz has three advantages.

1) With games you can run 120fps if you really want to.

2) With video you can now interpolate additional frames in-between the originals to reduce the 'sample and hold' effect of motion smear. This a physiological issue and different people experience it differently. I personally suffer from motion smear slightly with fast moving scenes in video/films but don't like the fix of interpolation with films (and many others agree that it makes films look artificial) but some people like it for sports/60i material. Theoretically you could insert black frames in-between the 24 real frames to reproduce the effect seen with film at the cinema, but no one currently does this on PC (Sony do it with the SXRD TVs and projectors).

3) 24 frame per second material (like Blu-Ray, NTSC DVD (if deinterlaced correctly) can now be watched at even multiples instead of being forced to watch a 3:2 frame sequence.

Hopefully any panel which does 120hz will also be able to do 100hz, although it's not certain. This would help a great deal with watching PAL and European video-camera-based HD material.

For normal desktop usage, I wouldn't worry about the advantages of 120Hz as LCD works entirely differently from CRT in that it doesn't show any black area between frames. It basically leaves on the image until it changes.

Hope that helps

A fourth advantage would be the reduction in the effect of tearing, when playing games with vsync off.

Related to this; when playing with 'regular' double-buffer vsync, the framerate jumps would become: 120 -> 60 -> 40 -> 30 -> 24...
This is definitely preferable to the 60hz jumps of: 60 -> 30 -> 20 -> 15

Can now report that i have green lines/snow on hdmi output too. So not just the dvi output.. it's just harder to reproduce on hdmi here. Don't think its cable related as i think its strange both the hdmi and dvi cable would be bad.

anyway, monitor is going back to hazro this week.

I'll be wanting to use every input on this monitor:

PC: DVI
360: VGA
PS3: HDMI
Wii: Component

It's perfect on paper. With this considered, using a DVI-HDMI cable (and therefore putting the PS3 out) isnt a very convenient work-around.

Did changing the DVI port on the GPU help anybody?

Changing DVI ports on GPU made it worse for me (so yes there was a difference). The DVI to HDMI cable has all but git rid of the snow i say all but coz there is occasionally the odd pixel! I only plan to use the display for the mac so no problem in using the HDMI for me.
I Still have had no reply from Hazro or OCUK tho, customer service eh! those were the days!

ROFL I only get green snow when more then one thing is plugged in generally.

I think its interferance between inputs somewhere.

Cant see that working at all without green snow.

Uh-oh. That does sound like a damn feasible explanation. I've heard of problems with audio interference (via the audio in/out ports) for similar reasons.

This is very disappointing. But what are the alternatives? The Hazro is the only Standard Gamut 24" H-IPS with all those inputs + 1:1 pixel mapping and a decent input lag/response time. It's so close, yet so far. I'm like a moth to the flames with this one.

get it if you have issues send it to them to be sheilded like mrk has.

I will be with mine when Im back home over xmas as i need it for uni work at the moment.

I have some very bad news here. My first monitor which worked fine until today shows green snow/lines too now. Just all of a sudden!!! I didn't change ANY cable or input/output. One cable plugged in at a time! It worked fine for 2 weeks!

Crazy!!! So now i have two non working monitors.:confused::confused::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Should have gone for the HP's instead.

I've just been through two HPs. Beware of the current batches of this model; they have noticable colour uniformity issues. Most people have green tints on the left, leading to red on the right. Everything else is perfect, but that's a deal-breaker for me (and many people on the Hard Forums). Image quality is the crucial part of a monitor's design, I'm sure you'll agree.

And thats why the HZ24Wi sounds like a colossal waste of £400 to me, having just read your comments. It's ridiculous that we, the customers who've laid down hard cash in the hopes of receiving a high quality product, have been turned into an unofficial QA team. I'll gladly buy a decent TN screen for half the price while I wait for a defect free revision (whenever that may be).

Moral of the story so far: DO NOT BUY HAZRO

Second moral of the story: possibly consider the Hazro brand in 2009, when they get their act together.

Third moral of the story: Buy this monitor if your name is mrk, you lucky devil.
;)

I'm at Uni as well. I'm mainly wanting this monitor for gaming, but obviously web browing and Word factor into my shedule heavily. I dont fancy sending monitor #4 back, for whatever reason. This time, it must be perfect. That said, I'll be interested to hear the reviews of this monitor in a December/post christmas scenario, when they'll likely have addressed the major issues. Thats why I'm keeping a close eye on this thread, and of OCUK's stock; things could change.

Has anyone else had their inputs shielded, like mrk? Surely this would be a good indication that Hazro understand the problem, and will be implementing a general fix soon, to all models?

Gonna skip HP and Hazro, far safer bet just too stick with the 24" cheaper TN panels @ £230-250 and at half the cost :)

Wiser to wait for a fairly decent model imo, look at Dell 2407 it took what 3-4 revisions just to get it too a standard it just plain rocked in all areas, maybe Hazros update early next year will do just that.
