Hazro - Any Update?

Is it an updated firmware one you have? the power saving issue was fixed in the latest 2.1 firmware.

The fix for now though is to hard reboot the PC and don't tell windows to turn the screen off.

I'm on 2.1 and it's a Wi model. I thought the vista power management issue was in the old w none i models?

I have also hard booted both the monitor and computer, the issue remains :/

I was hoping someone would say they've had it before when the power brick goes. Really don't want to be sending the screen off to Hazro again :/

Hmm that is strange then because indeed the power issue was resolved for everyone I have seen who got theirs swapped for the Wi model.

Does it happen when connected to other machines too ?

Well I've never had any problems with the monitor turning off before. I never put my computer into windows sleep mode; as my motherboard has issues coming out of it. It happened when the monitor was turned off by windows, but with windows still being on.

I've not yet tried a different computer or a different DVI cable; as I've not yet had time. :(

From the five minutes playing I did do, I couldn't get the monitor to do anything, but cycle trying to turn on.

So just to confirm, these symptoms do seem to be the same as what used to happen with the old HZ24W DPMS issues?

I'm going to contact Hazro tonight via the webmail and see if they can shed some light, my only worry being they wont get back to me for the next 2 weeks...

Well I've tried to get it to work again.

I've tried different DVI cables on my computer and analogue to my xp laptop (sadly I don't have another vista machine with DVI).

I've booted the machines up and down and nothing is working. Just keeps flashing the power light at me.

Time to make a support request :/

Well I've just submitted the support request, I've quoted so people can see what I've said.

Lets see how long they take to get back to me :/

Hi,

I have a support request and my details are:

Monitor model: HZ24WIB
Monitor serial number: ****
Monitor Firmware: 2.1 (was return to you to be upgraded from v1.0 to v2.1)
Computer O/S: Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1
Computer Graphics Card #1: nVidia 9800GTX
Computer Graphics Card #1 Drivers: nVidia reference 180.48
Computer Graphics Card #2: nVidia 7600GT
Computer Graphics Card #2 Drivers: nVidia reference 178.24
note: both cards running at same time in one computer powering 3 monitors.

The issue:

Symptoms starting showing after the computer was left on. Windows is set to put the screen saver on after 10 minutes and the monitor to sleep after 20 minutes. I came back to the computer later and monitor was having the following symptoms. It is worth noting that my 2 other screens came straight back on and I have had no issues in the past with my Hazro screen failing to resume.

The symptoms (the monitor and computer is power on):

1) The front power light and the backlight are off
2) The front power light will come on for one second.
3) Just as the power light is going back off (i.e. still on), the backlight flashes on for a split second.
4) Both the power light and backlight are off again.

It will just keep repeating steps 1 through 4.

The green light on the power supply is on, but as the monitor tries to power itself, the power supply light fluctuates (looking like there is power draw).

I have tried the following to fix the issue:

1) Turning the computer and monitor completely off and on using both graphics cards in my main computer to power the monitor. (Using different combinations of DVI cables. These have been verified with my other screens to work.)
2) Turning my laptop and monitor completely off and on. (Using analogue cable).

Thanks,

****

Damn I'm sorry your going through all this. That just plain sucks Hazro is playing it out like that. When I was using the monitor under load I noticed that the power supply got really hot. So I took out my trusty multimeter and tested the temp via the temp prob. That sucker got up to 106F and very warm to the touch. I figured that I could just buy another PS off ebay as they do sell them if you search the model #. I didnt figure it blowing out the panel though:(

Pls keep us informed on this matter.

Just thought I'd update since you asked - OC finally agreed to replacing the monitor for me (said it roughly a week before now, took them close to 3 months) but are still reluctant to pick it up themselves

I've just received this monitor and all seemed well until I went to have a go on Left 4 Dead and i'm seeing a lot of tiny green and red speckles dotted around mostly near the bottom and left edges of the screen.

So i'm guessing that i've got a dud?

The screen is nice but i'm not too impressed obviously because opf this, and also the backlighting at the bottom left and right are standing out quite a lot on black images.

Any advice on what to do with this? I can live with the backlight but what i suppose to be dead pixels are really disappointing, especially so many.

Thanks

Sam

EDIT: there are approximately 100+ of these dots.

Herojuana - if you read back a fair few pages you'll notice this is a problem with shielding that happens for some people and not for others. The solution is to drop one of the frequencies using something like powerstrip.

I've had an HZ24Wi monitor for a few months now and am very happy with it!

One question though, does anyone know if it’s possible to have the monitor automatically display 16:9 pictures correctly without having to change the aspect ratio to wide in the options menu each time a 16:9 picture is displayed? This is mostly an issue when I use it with my Xbox 360 as it (as far as I'm aware) can't produce 16:10 pictures and 16:9 is the nearest size it can produce. If it helps, I connect my monitor to my Xbox by VGA cable. There is some PC content that seems to be 16:9 only as well which even my 280gtx doesn't seem to display correctly despite having what seems to me the right scaling option checked in the Nvidia display options.

Grrr @ Hazro

Got a LAN at the end of the week and they've still not got back to me, not looking forward to LANning on a 17" screen instead of a 24" :/

IRT Mailman - Try setting it at 1680x1050: the only actual 16:10 resolution available to you on the 360. The borders will be forced on the console's end, meaning it'll permenantly maintain the 16:9 aspect ratio. The only downside to this is the obvious degradation of interpolation quality, and the possible increase in input lag as a result of the Hazro's additional scaling job.

Otherwise, I'd recommend using a component cable instead. I don't own a Hazro, but I imagine the company realised that most, if not all, applications (games consoles/DVD players) connected via this input will arrive at 16:9.

Well, i got my monitor back last month. (i think three to four weeks ago) That's about it. That's also the last time i heard from them.

I received a brand new black 24WI replacement long after they disappeared from the OCUK page.

I am still not happy with the replacement. Green/blue lines/dots appear from time to time and i did not succeed yet to get rid of them.

I've had my monitor for quite a long time (around September I think) and for the first time today, it switched off for no reason and I couldn't turn it back on. I was just idling it Windows at the time, no gaming or anything. It wouldn't turn back on so I had to turn off and on the mains switch, seems to be fine now.

It actually went black yesterday and came back on after around 10 secs, I thought it was my new gfx card but I'm not too sure now. Anybody else had problems after this happened to them? Is this the beginning of my monitor failing?

Not symptoms I've heard of before it failing - could be driver related perhaps if you've updated drivers?

Try hooking into the 2nd DVI port and monitor over a few days!
