Hazro - Any Update?

Colour temp is just user preference. whatever looks suitable to your eyes. presets are quite a bit out - 6500K is around 6900K according to my eye one probs but the custom defaults are much closer though found 85 for each was a nicer solution.

Jimbo, I noticed no banding before or after calibration, I would recommend downloading the Xrite Calibration LUT tester tool (Xrite website) it’s a zipped exe which displays the current gamma curve of your display card so if something has changed it from default the diagonal line will be slightly curved so all you got to do is hit “reset” to get back to Windows default. You can then adjust brightness/contrast and RGB values (which I recommend doing by dropping them from the high 90s to high 80s to get a more pleasing brightness).

Just to confirm; did you view any of the gradient images that have been mentioned before you did the calibration? And you are using the DVI input, yes?

If so, it definitely sounds like some of us have faulty units then :(

I'll try the xrite s/w. Actually it'll be interesting to see how Windows handles the screen compared to mac os...

Cheers,

Jim

Got my new screen on Tuesday and first and foremost I'm delighted with it.

I had it delivered to my work and when hooked up to my PC at work (using both the supplied DVI cable and a spare) I had random green horizontal flashes going across the screen. When I switched to a VGA cable the flashes seemed to disapear.

Rather nervously (expecting to see the same thing at home) I hooked up the screen to my own PC (using a different DVI cable) and hey presto the green flashes had gone :D

Over the past few days I have seen what appear to be the odd green sub-pixel flashing/sparkling in certain black areas of the screen. It's strange, I only ever see them in black/very dark areas and if I scroll the picture/website etc. the sparkling green dots move with the rest of the screen.

When playing games I haven't seen the green flashing dots.

Other than the above, which really doesn't bother me, im very happy with the monitor.

I also get the colour banding in that test but that is the only time I've seen it and it doesn't affect normal usage.

Picture quality is superb (having upgraded from a 19" Viewsonic), default settings out of the box appear to be good, if a little bright and I haven't noticed any input lag when playing COD4.

As you lot seem to be having problems with the DVI cable that comes with the new Wi`s, I take it when buying one of these screens, it maby better to buy another high quality DVI cable just in case?

Mac's use Gamma 1.8 don't they ? PC is 2.2 so maybe there is something there.

Yeah, I'm not sure how that affects things...

I didn't run the gradient image above before calibration but did do the gradient tests on http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ which showed no problems.

Did you rotate the gradient image? It seems it has to be a vertical gradient for it to trigger the banding...

Thanks,

Jim

Hmm I'm wondering how we can do some kind of test to see if each of us can replicate the green flickering/line perhaps ? could be a processing bug with certain cables perhaps ?

*Edit

Didn't rotate nope, just viewed as is.

I checked that chekemon test, and I had some slight horizontal banding too. I checked my colour temps, they were all set to 95 on the OSD (that is how it was shipped to me). Is it bad to have the temps this high? I don't know about this stuff.

I was able to completely remove the banding by reducing green temp to 64. Therefore I reduced red and blue to 64, just to balance up with it. It this the right thing to do? Someone please explain briefly what having the temps in the 60s means. Does having high temps damage the monitor if they are in the 90s?

Now that the temps are all 64, the overall image looks 'duller'...not necessarily worse. Reminds me more of how my Sun Microsystems CRT was. That was one of the best CRTs you could get, but is this just accurate callibration or what? do I then go to adjust the brightness/contrast or what?

What is a good downloadable calibration tool?

I too tried reducing the colours to get rid of the banding. It's definitely only the green channel that's causing the banding. Reducing the others makes no difference, but each step you change on the green changes the bands...

I wonder what's causing this or whether there's any way of fixing it! Mrk, is there any chance you could run the gradient thing using one of the monitor presets, which all seem to show the banding (atleast for me)? That way, we can see if it's all monitors or just a few. Also, do you have a contact email at Hazro who we can try contacting?

ok...an issue I'm having connecting my PS3
using a 10m cable and an HDMI splitter box I can't get any of the HD resolutions to work at all, with just the 10m cable the most I can get to work is 1080i (not 1080p), using a short HDMI cable I can get full 1080p and games look great!

I thought at first it was the long cable/splitter box to blame, but I tried connecting my TV to the PS3 with the long cable and splitter box and 1080p works fine

any suggestions ?

Well I finally received my replacement Hazro 24" monitor and set it up today.

I've not had a chance to do all the usual tests but I'm a bit reluctant to put it through its paces just yet, as with this being my 3rd monitor I'd like to try and enjoy it first.

Although at first glance I don't see any dead pixels, backlight bleed, etc. Having had the 'w' version before, i'd say that the revised 'i' model is a step up in overall image quality but that may be due to the front polarizer - i don't mind the glossy finish.

From reading through the other comments, as yet i've had no problems that have been talked about - banding, green lines/dots, etc.

I thought i'd post a few pics:

I've tried a couple of things to try and eliminate these green flickers:

I rolled back to an earlier nvidia driver but that didn't change anything.

If I select any other resolution other than native (1920 x 1200) I dont get it.

If I have a photograph with dark areas in it there may be a few isolated flickers, but if I zoom in on an affected area of the photograph the green flickers magnify/multiply verticaly.

If I have a completely black screen there are zero green flickers!

Hi,
I've finally received the harzo hz24wi too...
When I turned it on for the 1st time it flickered for 20 seconds showing green horizontal lines then it found the correct refresh and resolution and the image went stable and crisp, have anyone else experienced this using the monitor for the 1st time? I didn't see these green lines anymore, got them just the 1st time I plugged the monitor.

The image quality is superb and the monitor is really good except for a couple things:

1)The monitor stand is really bad: my screen pivots left and right for 3,4 degrees instead of being perfectly lined and stable so, every time you move or hit it, you have to check if it's straight or not.

2)I hate the osd menu buttons: I have to press them 3 times to get them working plus I cannot understand if a menu item is just highlighted or it it's selected and ready to be modified using up/down buttons.

3)Backlight and colours are not uniform (at least on my screen): I was expecting something better from an h-ips panel, it should be close to perfection. I placed a black background and I turned lights off: even if I watch the screen straight in front of it I see backlight bleeding expecially in the lower right corner, but if I make 2 steps left or right the opposite side of the screen turns from black to greyish. When I was working on Ms Word I noticed that the 1/3 of the screen coming from right to left was darker than the other 2/3 on the left, it's not like night and day but a pure white turn into another tone of white on the right side of the screen. I only hope this is due to wrong factory presets and calibration or because I used this monitor only for 6hrs and it needs more time for the blacklight and colors to be perfect , what you guys think? have someone of you experienced the same issue?

I need opinions and suggestions expecially on the poin 3. so let me know.

Last but not least let's speak about settings and calibration:

1)Is there someone here who calibrated this monitor with a colorimeter?
Can you please post osd settings and icm profile?
(I know that every monitor is different even if they are the same model and they use the same panel but I think that your profile would be 10x better than the factory presets.

2)While I'm waiting for someone's icm profile what's your osd settings? Have you guys factory resetted the monitor?

Thanks

Lucas the ICM profile won't help you because you need to have your gfx card LUT adjusted too otherwise you colours will end up being even worse with just the ICM. The only way to get the gfx card is to use a colorimeter to measure then calibrate it which then creates an icm profile based on that!

If this is the only way then let's do it :D

1) What colorimeter would you suggest me for this monitor? Gretag Macbeth/X-rite Eye-One Display 2, Colorvision Spider 2/3 pro or Lacie?

2)Does these colorimeters come with their own software? What's the best colorimeter + software bundle? Is there a 3rd parts software that works better than the one in bundle with colorimeter? Is every colorimeter+software good to adjust LUT?

3)What's the best 1 without considering price? What's the best 1 considering price/results?
