Hazro - Any Update?

24" is pretty big but once you've been staring at it for months it doesn't seem so until a friend or someone walks in and they see it and go "your monitor is not too too small is it???" :D

Problem is, at first, a 24" seems insanely big (when coming from a smaller monitor), but after about 2-3 weeks you get used to it and start wondering if something bigger may be even better.

Hehe, I hope not, im going from 19 inch to this (pretty excited about it all) so I think I will be happy for a long time, my hd tv is a 40inch bravia so im covered in the large screen department.

Has anyone spoken to either Hazro or OcUK directly about the banding issue?

My message to Hazro themselves seems to have been completely ignored, and they have no contact phone number on the website

I've been trying to get through to OcUK's support line, but it seems to be busy whenever I call :(

Without some kind of assurance that it's at least being looked into and (preferably) will be fixed with a firmware update, I'll be left with no choice but to reject it under the SoGA and/or return it as per DSR (today is the 7th day...), which would be a shame as it's otherwise a lovely monitor :(

I came from a 22" CRT and the first thing I said to the missus was "It kin Huge"
3 months later and i`m getting used to the size. But i`m not sure I`d want anything bigger though, not yet anyway :D

Got a call from Hazro today and they are sending me a new version tomorrow, they seem to be all out of the black version (they say OcUK have taken all their stock) so are gonna send me a silver one instead or offered me the chance to fix my current black one. Silver will actually match the surroundings better but I liked this black finish, oh well I'll get over it ;)

Trust me, after seeing both in the flesh, the Silver one looks miles better!

I disagree!

Either something wrong with your monitor or you've not watched those movies/trailers before because the scenes where you think it looks grey is because it's not a black scene and in fact lit by ambience so it is grey/murky :p

I Am Legend is a prime example of this. A lot of the 2nd half is in shadowy areas where it's dark but not black as you can still see a lot of detail in those dark areas of the house.

The "black" areas are the letterboxes, look at the difference between the letterboxes and the movie screenshots, the proper black areas match the letterbox black especially in the first photo (the guy's hair)

I'll get another pic up to show you in higher resolution.

Ok I have The Matrix in 1080p and luckily is one of the darkest movies I own so should serve as an excellent choice for showing proper dark scenes :)

Now do you see! blacks are black whilst still retaining detail in areas they should! I have mine calibrated of course so it's better than out of the box settings.
