Hazro - Any Update?

err they're not all like that - mine isn't. It's a lovely solid piece of kit.

I did not think it should be like this, the bottom half of the screen is secured in properly but the top corners if you put the slightest of pressure when dusting the screen, they pop in and out, overtime surely this will become more of a problem with dust getting in to the gaps..

I will be returning this screen for this amount of money you expect better build quality, and with all the banding issues it does not help.

HUGE Problem with this item :

Hazro HZ24Wi 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black Aluminium

Hi,

When I first connected the 24" Hazro to my computer (via the provided DVi cable to my GTX260) I had a VERY bad image out of the box, very white and I could just barely see the icons and the desktop : you can view a picture here (imageshack link below) with my other screen (I am dual screen) on the right to compare the windows desktop :

http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc03299hs5.jpg

After I switch off and on the screen several times the image finally became "normal". However, now, each time the screen comes back from sleeping mode it happens again and I have to switch it off and on to have a good image again ... No need to say that the screen doesn't seem to work very well ...

Moreover My screen has huge banding issues and I compared to the 24W (not i) of one of my friend, he doesn't have any banding issue. Is it a particularity of the "i" serie ??

Anyway, my screen, out of the box, has got a very serious problem and I am more than disappointed by Overclockers.co.uk's answer who told me to contact Hazro, which never sent me any answer to 2 emails for 4 days now ....

OCUK, please, I beg you, do something for me :/

I know. I'm trying to get an idea of how many currently suffer from banding/snow. Guess I could get one an DSR it back if it's no good.

Bit of a bold statement. But AFAIK ALL 24" Wi`s suffer from banding. But will hopefully be sorted by the firmware fix next week.
Not all suffer from green snow, the ones that do will require RMA to be fixed.

Finally i 'll stay with my good old 22" crt .There are too much ambushes on Hazro path.
And overall , LCD technology has too much pitfalls ,(dead pixels , panel uniformity, input lag and so on).

Onslow treatment NO MORE!

This was created in photoshop http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/Bagger/PSbanding.png and you can view it without any banding at all ?

If you go into the menu on your monitor go down to the spanner it`ll tell you what version firmware you have. some thing like " HZ24W ver. ** "
What version is yours ? Just wondering if you have this latest firmware installed

I've tried the above, lagom, BBC iPlayer, aloaudio.com and other gradients created in PS, and nothing. Firmware version says 'HZ24Wi ver. 1.0' ...I do have a stuck pixel towards the bottom left corner though. But that, I can live with! my CRT is on a tantrum at the moment [chooses not to power on every now and again] so may have to give it the Onslow Smack! 2 Motherboard failures recently so finally, a decent bit of kit!!!

Just want to add that as of this morning I also have this random green snow on my screen ....

And still no answer from Hazro ....

Yours definatly says HZ24Wi ver. 1.0 ?
Seems as if you have a different firmware to the majority of us.
Hopefully then things should be fine with the update when it arrives then.

Just want to add that I finally had an answer from Hazro who told me, by the way, that the firmware relase date was due to 11th of september.

I'll try to get my LCD replaced before this date, note sure a firmware upgrade could correct so much mess.

Its a pity there seem to be a number of issues with the new revision of the hazro screens, I think they were under pressure to release the revision due to popularity of the original versions and have failed to thoroughly test the new product :S

My crappy HZ24Wi I desesperately try to get replaced also has a 1.0 firmware version, what is yours ?

The firmware in mine is HZ24W ver 1.0

nando12 has the i in there which our firmware revision does not.
The W model is the older model with a different panel. Just if they are running an new panel type on the older firmware thats why we are getting banding and nando12 is not.

But as for your fault return it to OCUK under DSR. Or when you leave a webmail with hazro dont forget to put your telephone number, they usually get in touch by phone fairly quickly.

LocingBenkji - be careful your still covered under DSR to return the monitor to OCUK, but if you wait you will no longer be covered under DSR and the warranty will be with Hazro direct

Just got this from hazro:

This notification is intended for Hazro customers affected
by any of the problems outlined below. If any of the issues do not affect your monitor, please discard this message and announcement.

----------------------------------------------------------
ISSUES:
----------------------------------------------------------

- Banding on gradient backgrounds and images.
- Random pixelation i.e. 'sparking' of pixels.

----------------------------------------------------------
CAUSES:
----------------------------------------------------------

- Banding is caused due to improper configuration of the
scaler engine used on the AD Board Controller.

- Sparking of pixels is caused due to interference between
I/O connector board and main controller board.

----------------------------------------------------------
RESOLUTIONS:
----------------------------------------------------------

- Hazro have developed a firmware fix which reconfigures the
scalers gradation values at set resolutions. Hazro are
looking into 'packaging' the firmware to allow customers to
carry out the fix themselves [i.e. in the form of a software
upgrade].

- Further shielding of the harness cable linking the I/O
connector board and the Controller board totally eliminates
all sparking issues.

----------------------------------------------------------
ACTIONS AND TIMELINE:
----------------------------------------------------------

HZ24Wi [24" MONITORS ONLY]:

- Should a software 'self installable' firmware upgrade not
be possible, the product will warrant an RMA where Hazro
engineers will upgrade each monitor individually. Hazro will
inform all customers of the outcome of this [i.e. whether it can be done by Hazro or the user] on or by:

THURSDAY 11th SEPTEMBER

- The product is to be returned to Hazro for RMA. Shielding
requires the monitor to be opened and only Hazro engineers
are permitted to do so.

HZ26Wi [26" MONITORS ONLY]:

As above; however, the firmware will be ready one week AFTER the completion of the firmware fix for the 24" HZ24Wi. If the firmware is not user installable i.e. we are unable to 'package' the firmware into a .exe or .dmg file, the same RMA process applies as stated above.

* If a customer has reported BOTH of the above issues on the SAME monitor, the monitor must be returned for RMA only AFTER:

THURSDAY 11th SEPTEMBER

----------------------------------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFO:
----------------------------------------------------------

In case of RMA, the cost of secure transportation to and from the customers location will be borne by Hazro and NOT the customer as stated in the instruction manual.

----------------------------------------------------------
CONDITIONS:
----------------------------------------------------------

The above issues affect only a handful of monitors. Hazro
will strictly enforce the Warranty Policy which can be found
in all instruction manuals and also on-line at:

http://www.hazro.co.uk/downloads/Hazro_Manual_v3.pdf

Please refer to the 'Miscellaneous Issues' section and point
3 in particular.

----------------------------------------------------------
CONTACT:
----------------------------------------------------------

Should you require further assistance in relation to product
warranty, please feel free to get in touch via the temporary on-line contact form.

Has anyone managed to organise a return with Hazro yet? I have had emails from them, but they haven't said anything about how to arrange the return, ie whether they will be doing it or whether we will have to organise it ourselves...
