Hiper vs Enermax/Coraqi

Apparently they now ship them with a small hardware mod that the user applies to fix the issue...

So anyway..............back to the original story.

Fortunately the failure of my Hiper Type R 580w didn't damage any components. :D How pleased am I!!

I couldn't wait for the Hiper to get sorted, and the ramblings of you lot made me paranoid about having it, so I bought an Enermax Infinity. The Hiper will probably be sold when I get it back.

One thing I'd like to say in Hiper's defence is that they have been very helpful and they're RMA service so far has been excellent. I only hope this, and some improved component quality, can give they're reputation a much needed boost. After all, the more companies out there selling quality components with excellent customer service, the better it is for all of us.

Thanks to everyone who posted to help me get this sorted. Now stop arguing and go frag each other! ;)

yes iv heard that hipers rma service is very good. its a shame you have to use it though.
as for that ps not taking out your components, rats, hopefully the psu you get from the rma will do the job properly this time.

Nice to hear - i need to RMA mine, but unluckily, mine took my motherboard with it (and thats just outside of warranty :/)

The older type-r's were fine, only a few of those blew, its the new ones that have been going, I paid 70 quid for my hiper type-r 580w a couple years back from PC World and even though it was way more than I could have got it online the PSU served me well and I sold it on this very forum to someone else, think I sold it for around 40 quid with a 19" widescreen monitor for 60.

Is there anyway i can test the PSU without putting it in another machine?

I don't know whether the PSU is actually gone yet or not, or whether it is just the motherboard. I don't want to put it in another machine because i don't want it to break another machine.

I bought mine 2 years ago from pc world for 70 quid, and we all know what's happened to that one now!!

You should be glad that you've sold it now.

You post that image.. yeah well all the PSU crap is nonsense.

At one time everyone Raved about hipers and they were the best around, now the tables have turned and you instantly thing BAD replace it with something else. Only the 580W models were bad. I have built what 4 systems with Hiper PSU's and have yet to see a problem with any of them.

The same actually happened with the X-Pro PSU's I noticed. They were good and people no longer reccomend them.

I wonder how long it will be until everyone says Corsair..BOOM get an Enermax...
