***Hogwarts Legacy - RPG***

I lowered the page file back to Initial size (MB) to 8192 and Maximum size (MB) to 32768 again. It all working fine now after a clean driver instal (used DDU to clean them out) and then I chose to just install AMD Drivers only and now played the game on all Ultra without any crashes for about 12 hours or so. Closed it down at 5am this morning ! :o

Although I see you using a nVidia GPU and not a AMD one. But if you still having crashes, maybe try a clean driver only install ? Unless of course you already done one ! :p

Yeah I did a full clean install of drivers, reinstalled game etc when I had 16gb. All gone away now with 32GB. Still good to hear things are working well for you!

j started to play this, always running out of wigginweld potion, just on forbidden forest with them pesky spiders, in room theres 2 biggies and lots of little ones, its a sod to do,lol

You have to be careful not to over heal in reaction to damage - you can often sit on the red line for quite a bit before healing without dying - long enough to last out most smaller fights without using up a potion, taking the talent upgrades to increase healing is useful, and make good use of protego and dodge - dodge actually will avoid most damage including from most spells.

Also something I find a bit difficult to adjust to being a game designed around console a lot of stuff you only need to tap the button for instead of holding down as you often would on a PC game - holding down often has a secondary purpose.

The broom peed me off too, so I installed "Mouse controls for broom" : https://www.nexusmods.com/hogwartslegacy/mods/61

Thanks for posting this mod ! I tried the broom challenge and did not go to well, so remembered a mod was posted in this thread about broom flying and was quiet easier for me using this mod then the keyboard controls. Only missed 1 ring with the mod compared to like 4-5 with the keyboard !

yeah have learnt that, though now have a potions table im brewng plenty of them, i just finished the map chamber and heading for first trial, after i go hunting for other stuff as need to build a larger potting table to grow fluxweed as always running out,lol

Getting more stutter and more pop-in with the patch unfortunately - I think they've made the asset streaming a bit more aggressive to try and reduce memory use. Seeing lower CPU (EDIT: In some places though like Hogsmeade around 15% points more CPU use) use and less RAM use but performance is more varied :(

No issues with the patch, all runs well, but have to say I'm getting a bit bored of this now :o

And with Last of Us fast approaching PC release (28th), I will not be playing this much at all I suspect for quite some time.

Post-patch results with whacking everything back to Ultra and ray tracing enabled too:

Code:
                     Average framerate : 60.5 FPS
                     Minimum framerate : 39.9 FPS
                     Maximum framerate : 161.9 FPS
                     1% low framerate : 37.9 FPS
                     0.1% low framerate : 17.1 FPS

Ray tracing disabled pre-patch with optimised high/ultra mix:

Code:
                     Average framerate : 117.7 FPS
                     Minimum framerate : 54.9 FPS
                     Maximum framerate : 175.5 FPS
                     1% low framerate : 54.9 FPS
                     0.1% low framerate : 16.4 FPS

There seems to be no real usage change to RAM/VRAM though, still the same, uses 11GB RAM+ instantly.

Im seeing a big improvement in performance with the latest patch, no longer have to limit it to 60fps and can run it at 120+ without the constant frame drops, still some minor frame time issues but for the most part playable now.

Had a go maxed out with RT and everything Ultra at 5160x2160 and had to go down from DLSS Quality to Performance and it was still kicking my 3080Ti's arse, especially in Hogmeads.

That trial one final boss was a git

I couldn't aim at the orb LOL - I'm mostly playing without using aim and had the key unbound, though for some reason it got worse later in the game for correctly picking the right target - most of the game I was able to aim correctly without it until after the 3rd trial where for some reason it started flaking out more, and the game would persistently try and aim off the orb :( just brawled through it.

I find I can't be bothered with the enemy weaknesses, etc. or matching shield colours and just brawling and using dark magic instead rather than using the various techniques you are "supposed" to - I ditched expelliarmus fairly early on for instance.

At that res plus RT you probably need around 18-20GB of VRAM.

Did not check the vram counter. But when you consider I am using DLSS Performance it becomes 1080p ultrawide resolution no? But I guess it could be an issue. Only place where fps tanked noticeably was in Hogmeade.

i like a good old fashion dust up, like yourself it bugger strategy its get in there i find myself jumping on broom and looking for trouble, im just enjoying the fighting and havent bothered with much else atm. personally i love taking on the trolls, its a blast :D

Completed the main story at ~48 hours played, only did about 50% of the quest content, etc. and explored maybe 20% of the map. Definitely a lot there for people who like to explore, etc. I probably only took any notice of less than 20% of the lore an so on.

On the fence on replaying - most games aside from the original Deus Ex I've little interest in replaying once completed once - maybe after a few years, I think there is enough there to keep my interest in an immediate replay probably, will likely continue to mop up some of the more interesting stuff which I've missed - personally not that interested in the animal or plants/potions side of it, etc.

What the hell. I have it 82% completed and did potions and animals and explored most the map, gameplay shows as 38 hours
