How many Focus ST owners on here

doh looks like looking to buy at wrong time ! lol

just has to be 5 doors and reasonably sporty

went to look at a Seat Leon SE 2.0 TDi afterwards - which although with only 150hp - seemed a lot of car for money at 12.8 - only 18 months old

5 Doors are harder to come by and seem to command more of a premium than the 3 doors. Problem is when you are actively looking at them the market for them all of a sudden never changes and you're looking at the same ones all the time.

Values seem to be rising if anything! Its insane, having a quick look, there's only one facelift EO ST-3 for sale on autotrader for less than I paid for mine 18 months ago, and that's done 100k. Mine's high mileage (but not that high) but well looked after and well specced.

Indeed. Very odd. Especially as there is an abundance of them in circulation and they are hardly the most economical car in the world!

went to look at a 56 plate ST today - but on start-up - at idle it had an annoying high pitched whine from engine - sounded either electrical or a belt - very high frequency

it seemed a bit expensive to me - so didn't query it

Oil Diaphragm? Don't they make a 'space ship' type noise?

will google youtube it :) thanks

it was sort of 12k upwards sort of frequency, loud enough to be obvious from outside of car with bonnet shut, and continuous in tone, didn't seem to change
If it sounded like a whistling kettle when it boils then it's the oil diaphragm gone. Easiest check is to see if it goes away when you open the oil filler or pull the dipstick out. You might also get pressure releasing when you do that.

The issue was fixed with an updated unit (also issue on Volvo's etc) and Ford fitted this to facelift cars onwards I believe. Costs around £150 plus labour to change - an hour job for a specialist who's done it before but with a Ford dealer god knows.

Problem is that the fault lets the engine pressurise with boost pressure - if left too long like that it can lead to the camshaft oil seals blowing.

If the dealer hasn't bothered to fix an obvious problem before putting the car on sale then I'd wonder just how well they've checked everything else on the car?

Prices really haven't changed at all over the last 18 months.

Surely we won't see a rise in these? Remember the Mk1 RS, which fell to about £6-8k, that are now worth £10-12k. This can't happen with the ST? Their is an abundance of them. Albeit rare un-abused ones like mine...

What's everyone think is a fair trade in price for mine? 07, 74k, 5 Door Black ST-3, 2 owner. Gonna go look at that RS tonight and maybe see what they'll offer for my car.

Yeah, I left my details with them as well, as Evans Halshaw get a few in every now and then, they have another one in the exact same spec, just down in St. Albans, but is a grand more. Just wish I'd went and look at it when I first saw they had it in before Christmas, I probably would have bought it, lol.

Yeah, all either a bit much more than I'm willing to pay, or are modded, want a standard car. There's one down in Teeside which is just above what I'm willing to pay, might go look at it at the end of the week.

STers, is the de-res mod worth doing? Not looking to immediately upgrade anything big just yet, saw the de-res mod and thought it could be worth doing. Any feedback from people that have done it?
