HP Microserver+XPEnology

I currently have the latest gnoboot on my xpenology, if I switch to nanoboot on the usb stick, will my drives be safe when I switch them over? I have most things backed up already but not everything as I dont have the space.

I would wait till then new version comes out. All you have to do is flash your usb stick and chose upgrade
from the HP when it gets to the nanoboot screen. Oh and download what version of Synology you need first.

DSM 5.1 out. Anyone upgraded?

Edit - seems to have major issues. I will leave it for a while.

Yup, seems that it doesn't mount drives correctly after reboot for us XPEnology users although 5.1 is getting a lot of flack over on the Synology forums anyway.
I did see a 5.1 image floating around which might work.

However, 5.0-4528 Update 2 has been released; seems to have had minimal testing so it might be worth waiting a few days.

They seem to be releasing a new update every other week! No wonder there are problems. They can't be thoroughly testing these releases.

And I wonder if it is as much about making things difficult for other developers. But maybe I'm just being cynical. :)

Hi,

I'm trying to setup ESXI 5.5 and add 2 x 3TB drives to my datastore with the command so that they can be seen by my XPEnology server:

vmkfstools -r /dev/disks/t10.ATA_____WDC_WD30EFRX2D68EUZN0_________________________WD2DWCC4NPUZ4SP5 /vmfs/volumes/datastore1/RDM/disk1.vmdk

but I get the error:-

Failed to create virtual disk: The specified device is not a valid physical disk device (20).

what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I always followed this guide with success until a decided to get a proper SATA controller and hardware that allowed pass thru
http://blog.davidwarburton.net/2010/10/25/rdm-mapping-of-local-sata-storage-for-esxi/

It's motherboard/cpu dependant rather than the card itself, but I'm using a Dell SAS6/IR

I'm assuming you're using a HP Microserver in which case hardware pass thru isn't supported.
Then if you decide to go AMD like I did finding a motherboard that supports it fully is a nightmare as there's not a great deal in which boards have full IOMMU support.

I now have XPEnology 5.0-4528 running under ESXI (N54 Microsever), everything seems fine but both NZBGET and/or SABNZB seem to download very slowly I just can't seem to work out why!!!

Downloads work but I never seem to get a download above 800 kbps (should be getting about 2 mbps).

Not sure where to look, any help appreciated.

Hi All,

I am currently running Windows Server 2008 R2 on my Microserver - but I'm having stability issues so I was considering switching over to this.

Questions:
1) File systems: All my media drives are NTFS. Will these work with XPEnology?
2) Will XPEnology work with a torrent/SaBNZB server setup?
3) I have a TV Card in my Microserver. Does TVHeadend work with XPEnology? What about drivers of the card?
