HP Microserver+XPEnology

Guys. This is what I have installed on my microserver.

I didn't need to update during the whole virus/file locker thing that went on a few months ago. I do now have to update my plex server to the latest version so my son can use his PS4 on Plex. Any advice given is greatly appreciated, I also tried the synology plex server from the plex website , but it just failed.

Thanks

Guys

Looking at the system info above, how would I upgrade to version 5, it seems that the plex version I want is for version 5 and above.

thanks

how are you running xpenology? if from a usb stick you would need to update the bootfiles to a version that supports the dsm your trying to install, in mycase im using "Nanoboot-5.0.3.2 DSM 5.0-4528 X64" with dsm version 5.0-4528 update 1, I see there is a trial version for dsm 5.1 but haven't tried that yet

Hello knowledgeable peeps :)

I come with questions and a request for help

I have XPEnology running on my N54L with a pair of WD Greens (I know :S) in the RAID set up through the control panel.

Im looking to add two more drives (WD Reds :) ) and have a few queries:

1) Can I add the two new drives (in RAID) without affecting the other RAID setup or losing any data
2) Does it matter that I will have a mix of dives (Red and Green) even in separate RAIDs ?

Thanks muchly in advance :)

Thanks for the swift reply and link :)

No, the existing greens are 2TB and im after 4TB reds.

Ideally i would like to :

> Keep the data on the existing greens in a separate RAID setup
> Install the two need Reds as a new RAID setup
> Copy existing (green RAID) data onto the new Red RAID
> Use the Green RAID as secondary backup (or even two separate drives)

Is the above possible

sorry for being a n00b !

Im back !

So, HDDs arrived today and installed fine:

And the existing Volume 1:

So, next question (sorry) is when i look in File Station or Windows Explorer I can only "see" one volume ?

How do I go about "seeing" and differentiating between volumes to choose where I save files and able to swap and copy between Volumes ?

Thanks again

I've just received an N40L which I've purchased off the MM to hopefully setup as a XPEnology Box.

I've got my 16GB USB stick ready to go but am a little unsure as to which version to use.

Can 5.1 be used yet or am I best to stick with the latest build of 5.0?

There is a testing nanoboot for 5.1 so maybe if your starting fresh it could be worth it trying it out?
