Hungarian Grand Prix 2010, Hungaroring Circuit - Race 12/19

That porche uses electric not flywheel, so don't get how it's a test bed.

It uses a flywheel as opposed to batterys to store the energy from breaking, which is then used to drive the electric motor.

The advantage is it is far lighter than batteries, but allows less flexibility for packaging and you can't run on electric motors only.

Thought this was amusing from the Thursday press conference:

Massa has been asked if his accident last year will make him uneasy for the first few laps.

FM:
For sure not. It's really nothing to do with my way of working. To be honest, I don't remember a single thing from the accident. I don't remember the corner. I saw it many times, but I don't remember anything, so when you close the visor, you don't think about these things, you just think about doing your best and working and achieving the maximum you can. So for sure, nothing of this thing has happened and I'm pretty sure that Rubens has a very, very strong spring on his car now.

RB:
I promise you that he's really like that. I don't think he will fear anything. Three or four months ago we were playing poker back in Brazil and he just said 'I have a surprise for you' and he put the helmet in which he had the accident on the table and it destroyed my night, completely destroyed my night and I started losing money with the poker and he had fun with it, so I think he's going to drive flat out without a... I'm driving for a different team, so you're safe now, it's OK.

:D

Also slightly amusing was Heikki being rather evasive about Hockenheim '08 and the subject of orders to let your faster team-mate get by....

WTF is up with the practice feed? First time I went into it, it showed me highlights from Germany, refresh, it goes to live Hungary practice with no commentary, refresh again, now I'm back to Germany highlights!?!? WTF?

Nuts, shouldn't have refreshed. At least I had the live video, now I have nothing. If I'm not careful I'll have nothing to distract me from work.

Yeah still having problems with the video feed myself on iPlayer.

Highlights from germany, then the praccy feed, then I viewed last years race...now...back to Germany.

Horner trying to defend their front wing.. and failing :p

I think it was quite good, wouldn't tell how it worked, just that it passed all FIA testing and that the designers where clever.
The only thing which annoyed me a bit was saying all the fuss. I don't think there has been a fuss. No ones gone to FIA, It's just people are impressed how it passes FIA and but still flexes.

True. TBH it's a bit silly of the FIA to only test wings with a 500N force when they are subjected to far greater than that at full speed.

No because they accept that they will flex to a degree. Someone else had a rear wing recently that was caught flexing slightly and there was a bit of a fuss and nothing done. The 500N is the tolerance, it's fair game if it flexes after that point. F1 has always been about pushing the tolerances and if other teams aren't more fool them.

Is it as easy as they think, add on 4 or 5 little winglets onto the end plates to create high levels of down force, which ends the wing down.
