HUNGARORING - BUDAPEST - HUNGARY Grand Prix 2009 - Race 10/17

Surely, Flav will be lining up Kubica at Renualt? Maybe Heidfeld to join him to if Alonso leaves? Could be a good thing, bringing proven teamates onboard!
Kubica I'd take at Renault. Assuming Alonso goes and Piquet is history anyway Heidfeld would be OK but not my first choice for the other seat. Perhaps Kimi? :p

But then if Massa can't come back for next season or a huge part of it then I reckon Kimi is safe as Ferrari would want at least one driver carrying on to provide continuity. So Alonso to Ferrari from 2010 onwards and either Massa, if he's fit, or Kimi for another season or so until Massa is fit? Place your bets on Ferrari's and Renault's 2010 lineups now! :D

What would be interesting is if MS turns out to be very very fast and has the hunger back, then he may even replace Kimi for 2010, which would block the move of Alonso to Ferrari.

Why? Alonso was better than schumacher.

MS should get whupped by kimi. MS has barely driven a f1 car not riddled with traction control or gadgets in the last 10 years.

But Kimi is so hopeless these days I really fancy MS to school him after a couple of races back in the groove.

I wouldn't be suprised then to see kimi go off in a huff and MS to compete fully next year if it goes well.

I think they Alonso was probably the only driver as skilful and talented as Schumacher. It'd be great to see those 2 going at it in competitive cars for just one more full season :)

Agreed, Im quite shocked how so called F1 fans across various forums seem to have completely forgotten/are in denial how schumachers career really ended.

Forget "competitive cars", just imagine the two of them in the SAME car! :D

Two of the greats of modern F1 in the same car? Would be a brilliant fight between them. However I'm guessing both would veto each other as team mates in an unlikely scenario that both would be at Ferrari next year.

Is Kimi signed up to Ferrari for 2010? I thought he was

Nope. Only Massa is confirmed for 2010. Rumour has it that Alonso has a gentleman's agreement to join Ferrari in 2010. However, if MS wants the seat, he will DEFINITELY be given it, purely because of who he is and what he has done for Ferrari in the past.

Why? Alonso was better than schumacher.

Indeed, the 2 years before MS retired, Alonso won the WDC, however, Ferrari love MS and would definitely take him over Alonso, simply because of what MS has done for Ferrari.

Schumacher and Alonso :D

Come on dude, we both know that will never ever happen. MS just wouldnt allow Alonso to go toe-to-toe with him in equal cars. MS and Ferrari's dominance has been all about the team having a No.1 and No.2 driver, to prevent one driver taking points away from the other (just as what happened in 2007 with McLaren and what may happen with RedBull this year).

I think MS would veto Alonso, but I doubt Alonso would veto MS. Alonso just wants a better car under him and Renault are constantly letting him down. Ferrari look like a better bet to give him another WDC.

Also, Alonso might quite fancy beating an old MS, who is past his best.

I would dribble everywhere. :D
Haha. :D I wouldn't. ;)

They'd just end up fighting over the steering wheel ;)
Just the steering wheel? They'd fight over anything and everything.

True. It is possible Alonso is the kind of person who doesn't care who his teammate is; he'll beat them all the same.

Well he's already beaten him twice in a row. But yeah to beat MS three times and perhaps get a title for each time he's beaten MS could be quite a motivation for Alonso. I think Alonso can win another title, perhaps two, before the end of his career. Of course he needs to be in a car that can at least give him a chance of fighting. Brawn probably can't afford him and might not be title contenders next year anyway. Webber and Vettel are both tied to Red Bull so no chance there. McLaren could be out I think. ;) Renault obviously no go. That leaves Ferrari. I regard Alonso as a great of the sport on two titles, but if he can get himself into the books as a triple or even quadruple champion he'd be in my top 10 of all time, perhaps even top 5. :)

Sorry but if that was the case, they would have not enticed Kimi from McLaren and offered him an equal contract to schumacher before schumacher retired. After losing 2005 and 2006, they saw Kimi as their future. If schumacher does 2010 at Ferrari it will be more to do with Bernie pulling strings for his viewing figures, rather than loyalty.

Thats a very good point actually. Ferrari in the end got bored of waiting for MS and forced his hand. They announced Kimi and he retired.

That said Kimis now gonna get pounded on. Ms has more set up know how in a poor car in his chin than kimi has in all his years of racing.

Obviously you missed 2007 :p Alonso cherry picks team mates like MS did. Piquet has lasted as long as he has because he's crap. Alonso will often come out in support of a driver whose no threat.

For his part in the cheating mclaren fiasco and trying to blackmail the team I would never rate him as great as good as he is. A scum bag and the lowest driver I can ever remember.

Fantastic for the sport, it's like a Rocky film! This season is beyond any script a Hollywood writer would come up with. The first half of the season dominated by the awesome performance of the Brawns right out of the box, the arguing over technical regs, the prospect of the whole thing coming apart with a constructor break away... then the 2nd half, a serious injury brings back, out of retirement, one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen. You could never get all that in one film!

I just prey that the Ferrari can be a competitive (on the podium) car for the rest of the season. Realistically Schumacher's going to have a really tough time though, everyone else on the grid has a lot more experience than him in 2009 spec cars, everyone else is race fit...

What are the limits of the testing ban? Is he today allowed to take an old 2008 spec car to a track and pound round it for a couple of weeks get his fitness back? What counts as testing?

Think you meant this post for sunama? :p

He did this after he won his two world titles so I'm OK with that. :)

Wrong.

Alonso doesnt cherry pick team-mates, however, he does expect preferential treatment, when his team-mate is a newbie. Most World Champions would expect this treatment...even Senna (who would request that he be given the best equipment the team has, while his team-mate can goto hell).
