Hurricane Helene / Milton

Lots of places in Florida still have flooding and/or saturated ground from recent weather so if there is much rain with it then it could be really bad even if the wind was only moderate.

So far looking like Kirk is massively downgraded as it gets to land and probably quite tame and well south of us on current projections.

Its category 5 now. Feel sorry for Florida.
I'll caveat that I'm no weather expert, I have been watching a lot of the build up to this. From what I gather this is actually a good thing? Apparently people hoping the earlier it peaks the more energy it expends before landfall. They seem to be expecting ~Cat 4 or even 3 by landfall.
However it seems the damage is done in regards to storm surge. Its going to be huge by all accounts. The record low pressures has apparently already created the huge bulge and waves and its a matter of time before it hits. Again I'm far from an expert, just what I've gathered from watching "experts" talk.

Also eye weakening where it massively expands rather than the energy intensely locked into the core makes the storm surge worse, it seems to have done that and then started to intensify again minus some geographical/other weather systems impact which has slightly hindered it re-intensifying.

Just to show people what the storm surge can do here is 3D visual pretty scary!

Numbers more for illustration but the average displacement behind the storm surge for a large hurricane is around 2-4km3, Milton will probably be around 20, in comparison a tsunami like that hit Japan is in the region of 250 - a 15 foot wall of water from storm surge and a tsunami can actually be quite different in impact, though Florida is still facing something pretty devastating.

Some think the plane in the above clip has made the hurricane because of unusual flight path activity , well that's what tik tok told me
I read that the hurricanes have been created by chinese weather devices, floating high over the US, as a way to cause huge damage to US states, and that those chinese weather devices are what are often mistaken as UFOs.

Dont forget the ground is also extremely saturated with large amounts of standing water already from previous storms which is going to have a big impact.

With 4.5m expect flooding to sweep buildings away, flood/fill shelters and destroy power with a high impact on emergency power in hospitals too. It won’t remain clean either presenting a medical issue.
Then add waves and anything above the flood water is hammered by wind.

It’s almost like a tsunami.

there’s also additional storms on the other side of florida.

Also this is 156mph sustained, not gust.. I wonder what the gust speed will be.

Lastly is funny how they use a propeller driven aircraft. Perhaps the engines can cope with more water than a jet in a turbo prop.

The tin foil hat thinking did cross my mind too.. however storms like this have been going on in the gulf ans up tornado alley for centuries.

It’s almost like a tsunami.

Difference to a tsunami - it won't keep piling up and so overcome obstacles to the degree a tsunami would and won't keep coming inland as far and with as much force as a tsunami, though with the amount of saturation currently in Florida it will likely be more tsunami like than it normally would.
