I found a broken cat this evening :/

Poor little fella, Kudos to you OP for helping :)
If the driver just hit him and didn't even stop I hope the next thing they hit is a brick wall.

Well done mate most woudl've just ignored the poor chap. If the owners don't appear I'll happily contribute :)

Read many cats can survive accidents like this, just hope he wasn't like that for a long time before you found him.

How much do you pay a month? Someone else in the thread mentioned £25/month.

Assuming a cat lives 15 years, you've paid £4,500 in insurance.

I pay £23/m for 2 cats, for life policy, none of this pay once and never again rubbish.
One of them was in the vet hospital for 3 days, cost almost £700.
Well worth it imho

Lots of talk of pet insurance going around now.

For anyone that's thinking of it because of this thread, we have our dogs with Petplan and our vets have said how good they are compared to other insurers.

They don't do things like putting the premiums up after a claim unlike a lot of places do.

Oh and, update please OP!

Healthy Pets! do Maximum Benefit policy with a £1000 vets fees per condition for £3.99 a month, is that not any good?

Petplan here too
7k per animal per year, premiums havent gone up anything unacceptable, despite using them a few times now.

Excess per condition is only paid once per year :) Handy
No need to pay the vet and claim back money, they pay vet direct.
And of vcourse the important bit... A for life policy.

Some insurers will happily pay out for a condition, then refuse to cover that condition the next year should you stay with them, of course makes getting new insurance to cover it hard as it could be classed as an existing cindition before the insurance was taken out, which they would refuisxe to pay out for.

They deffo get my vote and I read up a bit on them first, also I think existing customers can get 2/3 free months free fopr friends if they take a new policy.

Any updates OP?

I have pet plan as well. They are really good but a bit pricier than other companies. I pay £70 a month for 4 cats of mixed ages, they even paid out for some routine teeth extractions.
Which was nice.

Worth noting that despite the insurance co being willing to pay the vet direct it's up to the individual vet if they insist on being paid up front with the customer to then claim back. My vets does this, however they are reasonable if it's a hefty price for an operation etc then as long as proof of insurance cover is provided they will wait until you have claimed for payment.

Well done op, good on you, hoping for a good end to this.

Will donate as well, thinking of my cats at home, probably sleeping on the bed & sofa right now, every cat should have that and kets hope we can get this one there soon! :)

£25 per month is mental for pet insurance.

All insurance is a gamble. I have been driving 10 years, and I have 10 years no claims bonus. I could have had a new car for all I have paid out in insurance all these years.

On the other hand, I have had my two cats insured for one year for a total cost of £300. For the fox bite wound, they have paid out £550. I am currently £250 better off for having insurance, with no sudden one off bill to stump up.

I'm just about to take out a policy with pet plan. Do you have some kind of referral for me so you can get this reward?

My aunt has a 3 year old cat that's already run up more than 4.5k in medical bills, insurance ftw :)

Age is the big factor. Cheap as chips for a young cat, then often shoots up when they hit 11 years old.
I paid £32 pm for my two- 23 for the old boy and 9 for the kitten.

Gender too, females are cheaper as they don't roam as far and are less likely to get in fights.
