I have 1GB of DDR1 RAM is it possible to gain access to Crysis ultra high settings?

he`s winding every one up he started almost same thread 7 hours before this one, but that one was not taken up.
almost same thing back in 2006.

Hi guys,

I have two PC's

First one which i have had for nearly 4 years, see below:

Pentium 4 2.0 ghz
512MB RAM
100 GB Hard Drive
Windows XP Home Edition + Service Pack 2
ATI 256MB Radeon 9800XT
Dell 20 Inch 1600x1200 Monitor

still works to this day, over the years i have changed my graphics card once from a Nvidia which i can't remember which model to this 256MB 9800XT which i got about 2 years ago. I am still playing games on this machine

I can run Prey with everything on max, i am talking about 1600x1200 4x FSAA and 16XAF and i get decent frame rates. When i take off FSAA and AF it is so smooth like butter.

Now i just got a new PC, and spent £920 in total

Here are the specs: # Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor by ADVENT the model number is Advent T9107

2.8GHz Dual Core 800MHz FSB, 2 x 1MB Cache
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition + Service pack 2
1024MB DDR RAM
250GB Hard Disk Drive/ 2 Partitions
Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD RW Drive
512MB ATI X1300 Graphics Card with DVI/VGA/S-Video
6-in-1 Media Card Reader
4 USB 2.0 Connections
20.1" LG 203WT 1600x1050 Flat Panel Monitor

looking thro his old posts he has been writing a novel, importing beef from south africa, and importing all sorts from usa.
dont know how he time to play games.

So his NEW PC cost him £920?? Eh he said £500 budget PC in here , my PC is better than his and cost less :o, he got ripped off good and propor on that PC!

Hi snowdog

I can tell you this, when i run crysis with my 1GB DDR2 RAM it does not stutter during play, only for a second or two like i said previously when you go up a big hill to look down on the other side because of everything it has to draw in. Also when i leave crysis to return back to the desktop, there is only a slight slow down, after about 45 seconds i am ready to load up COD4.

It was DDR1 Ram at the start of the thread...

Dont believe you I dont think anyone does.

If you think its not stuttering with 1GB ram show us screenshots of memory usage in and out of game..

Still waiting for screenshots.....

Just for reference A quick alt-tab when I play crysis (mainly do this if I forget to load fraps) shows crysis using 800+ mb of RAM. Taking into account other processes there is no chance that crysis will be remotely playable on high settings with 1gb of ram.

Please note I said playable and not that it wouldn't run. These are two completely different points and something I think the op may be confusing.

(sorry willhub I was merely adding to your point about the memory usage)

I am sick of reading all of this stuff you guys write, look this goes out to everyone that's cussing me. firstly please read what i say in posts correctly don't read into words that are not there.

It does not take me 45 second to exit out of a game, it's just a few seconds but once i am back on the desktop it's around 45 seconds of slow down until the CPU light stops flickering and then i can boot up another game. It seems like 45 seconds i haven't actually timed it yet, it's probably around a lot less.

Secondly this gaming rig was bought back in 2006, it's just been upgraded with a 512MB 8800GT.

Thirdly, this is not some thread where i am talking rubbish, i am not trying to test out my writing skills for my book on you guys, not at all.

Fourthly, DDR1 it was indeed at the start of my thread but i got that wrong, as i found it was in fact DDR2.

Fifthly, the gaming PC back in 2006 cost me £920 but then i sent back a pair of speakers that came to £40 and a ATI 1300 Pro that cost me £140 and i got a refund i bought the system from COMPETITOR including the monitor

Now the PC system costs £350 excluding monitor and you can get the 512MB 8800GT for £160 including VAT and delivery. So it's around 500 quid in this context £510 but i have seen it for less, after i bought the gfx card. I know i could have got a similar PC for far cheaper back in 2006 but my dad really needed a computer for work and so we didn't want to wait and i try to get the best value system on high street prices. So that the system could be used for gaming and work. We has basically one day and just several hours to get hold of a computer.

Now to all you guys, that have doubted me, i will demonstrate over the weekend my rig.

But first i have something that will prove my claims for now

Bit-tech have got news on a budget spec PC that comes direct from the crytek, and this PC costs £500 and it's running in 1280x720. Now my specs are pretty similar and that just shows that it can work like i am describing, the system spec is with 2GB all running on high details and they choose windows xp + service pack 2 over vista which is what i have got.

here's the link

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/01/17/crytek_specs_a_budget_machine_for_crysis/1

NO COMPETITORS - ZEFAN.

it is trust me, i am currently running it on a dual core with 1gb ddr1 ram, 512MB 8800GT, in high detail, at 1600x1050 with 8xaf and 4xFSAA and i am getting like 50 frames per second without the FSAA and AF it's way above 60 frames per second. I plan on getting more Ram so i can run it in ultra high detail. my gaming pc costs under £500 new excluding monitor and included vat and delivery. this is pretty top end on a low budget.

That's a higher spec than yours but then in that article they state it's smooth only in 1280x720, where as you have stated it runs well in 1600*1050 with a lower spec PC.

Seriously, don't say that everyone else is talking rubbish when your blatantly being a tool or a wind up merchant!

Furton what are you smoking? have you even bothered reading all my posts, i said i got the resolution wrong, it is set at that resolution but then it reverts back to 1280x720 for some strange reason. You are all in for a treat when i show you a video on the weekend. Oh and on that bit-tech link if you watch the video it says the rig costs actually $900 that's £450.

Crysis uses between 800 and 1.3GB here depending on settings.

Maybe your PC costs 500 now, but you paid £920 so dont try saying its a budget PC unless you bought it on a budget.

Sick of what people are writing? I think people will be sick of what you are writing too you have yet to proove anything you claim you are on another rig then why even bother saying anything...

At your res all high the PC will be VERY slow with 1GB of ram, I've just clocked crysis using 1GB of ram at the same res and high settings...

Dont convert prices like that it will be more like £500+

We're not in for a treat we all know what your rig is capable of, if its not overclocked it'll be around 30+fps.

Oh man, i said it will be around 30 fps, originally i said 50 fps but then i said around 30 fps was more realistic. You guys just don't read all the posts, you just jump to the last post.

And no when i say it's a budget PC, it is a Budget PC, it was not a budget when i bought it but i am saying because of now a year and half has gone buy it becomes a budget PC for others to buy so they can run crysis because of it's affordability.

I just ran the CPU benchmark & GPU benchmark 4 times on the DEMO for Cyrsis and got the following on the last run of each:

CPU Run:

Min: 9.3 @ frame 821
Max: 41 @ frame 91
Average: 27.49FPS

GPU Run:

Min: 14.3 @ frame 1931
Max: 35.2 @ frame 1620
Average: 27.3FPS

Settings:

Texture: Medium
Objects: Medium
Shadows: Medium
Physics: Very High
Shaders: High
All settings on right hand side: High

This is on a E6600 @ 2.97ghz with 2GB RAM. HD2900XT @ Stock.

This is on Vista Ultimate.

Basicly I done this to ask a few questions instead of starting another Crysis thead... Im sure DVDbunny won't mind:D

I feel 'lag' when I play it & I feel this is due to the 2GB I have being filled up I think. Getting 4GB 2moz so will test again over weekend. Would the 4GB help do you reckon?

Should I be getting better results or is this as good as it gets? I know DVDbunny is on crack with his 60 FPS but shouldn't my rig be getting just a bit better than that on the above settings?

One of the reasons I haven't got the full game is because the demo really didn't feel good on my system & I don't want to buy the full game for it to perform as bad.

Does the full game play a better than demo basicly?

Screenshots CAN be provided for the above stats lol:D

i can run the crysis bench ok average 52fps @1280x1024 @1680x1050 it drops down to 41fps, but in playing the full game @1680x1050 i average about 35 fps with no aa and no configs in xp 32 bit, thats with a c2d e6600 @3.6ghz and an 8800gts 512mb@795/1095/2000, if the op is getting better its time i got a rig like his:D

Am beginning to feel sorry for the guy now.

Yes, I know the claims, I know the history of the thread and even I have told him to get screenies, but he did say he would not be able to until weekend/next week, so just let it drop until then - or forever.

Even if he was exaggerrating(sp?), he did correct himself later, and at the end of the day, what is anyone gaining by continuing to abuse the poor guy in here? Just let it lie until he comes back with screenies, or let it die.

PS - unless you can provide me with links to threads proving he does this kind of thing all the time, in which case, have a ball :)

In the begining you said 60FPS !!!!
