I very much doubt there was any ashes to ashes or dust to dust that most Christian families yearn for at funerals. Also, a proper funeral is a way for a family to say goodbye.

Because most of the worlds various cultures have some form of burial/funeral or ritual when somebody dies, most of those involve doing something with the deceased’s body

Im not really sure what point you’re itching to argue

But to threaten the very existence of this tribe through the realistic possibility of introducing a virus they haven't developed an immune system against is ok because he needs to be given a proper sendoff.

Derps gotta derp so they should leave his body and allow this tribe to continue without the rest of humanity trying to force them to evolve when they clearly don't want to.
 
I'm not itching to argue anything. The culture involved don't care much for ours, and that should be respected.
He knew, or should have known, the risks. His family's emotions don't have any bearing on what should happen next.

If you go back a few posts you will see that I said "if possible"

In any case I would have thought leaving a rotting foreign body there would have posed more biological danger to the islanders
