IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT TO SCOTLAND/NEWCASTLE/YORK REGARDING DELIVERY

True, and the east coast road has been kept clear, but stuff has to get from the depos through the Midlands and blocked roads south of Glasgow/Edinburgh.

Still, I got a delivery from citylink at 11am today (sunday) which was due next day on Friday although they've simply shut their snowed in depots, they are employing private van drivers to (try) too clear the backlog. I would assume dpd should adopt a similar stance considering.

Anyway, to quote their site from Friday (Note a lot of Scottish postcodes aren't listed :))

DPD DELIVERIES TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED IN SCOTLAND, NEWCASTLE and YORK.

As of today DPD is unable to guarantee that parcels sent to Scotland, Newcastle and York will be delivered before Christmas. In addition we have a significant backlog of parcels in these depots still awaiting delivery. We are therefore asking customers, from today, not to ship parcels to Scotland, Newcastle and York.

The postcodes covered by our Scottish, Newcastle and York depots are as follows:

* DPD Aberdeen Depot: AB0-35, AB39-54, AB57-99, DD9-10.
* DPD Edinburgh Depot: all KY postcodes, EH1-46, PH0-16, TD10-99.
* DPD Glasgow Depot: G0-32, G35-64, G73, G76-78, G80-99, KA0-26, KA29-99, PA0-19, all ML postcodes, DD0-8, DD11-99, EH47-49, EH51-55, FK0-16, FK22-99, G33-34, G65-72, G74-75, G79.
* DPD Newcastle Depot: all DH postcodes, all NE postcodes, all SR postcodes, all TS postcodes, DL0-5, DL9-99.
* DPD York Depot: all HG postcodes, all HU postcodes, all YO postcodes, DL6-8, DN8, DN14.

The recent bad weather has severely impacted parcel delivery services in Scotland and the North East, in addition DPD has unprecedented volumes of parcels being shipped by our customers. The two factors combined mean that these depots now have severe delivery backlogs.

We are making every possible effort to deliver all the parcels we have, this has included working on the last two Saturdays and Sundays, and we believe we have made an industry leading effort to maintain a delivery service even into the worst affected areas.

We understand that this announcement will mean disappointment and inconvenience to our customers and we deeply regret that but we are convinced that a policy of openness and honesty regarding this matter is paramount.

DPD delivery services to the rest of the country will continue, and collections from Scotland, Newcastle and York for delivery outside of these areas will continue.

DPD will continue to post daily updates on our website and to send detailed update bulletins to our customers as the situation changes.

They have been saying the same thing everyday on dpd just changing the date not really an update is it, 5 day delay on parcels well mine was sent 8th so 5 days on that has come and gone. 10 days has come and gone.

It still hasn't budged it wouldn't be so bad if they actually updated it with new information.

me and my big mouth, its just started snowing

pah its stopped now, not even a proper covering :(

DPD status updates are shocking

Amazing there doing so well, "trust us sir it will be delivered Thursday" Repeat this same line on Friday and then Saturday and it was meant to turn up today. Surprisingly it hasn't but we have had the parcel force guy and a next courier deliver stuff to someone in the street just 20 minutes ago.

Why can't people understand, just because it's not snowing today doesn't mean they'll be able to deliver everything they should have done in a week in 1 day.

They aren't stopping deliveries either, just severely delayed due to the weather.

Never ceases to amaze me how some people think, I want free deliver or cheap as peanuts and I want it there the next day whether it's Christmas, snowing or spring and flowers blooming, I don't care because I am the centre of the Universe.:rolleyes:

And that roads are completely passable from the depot in edinburgh to where we stay.

And then that they tell you when after waiting patiently for over 7 days that it will be there the next day you believe them like a fool 3 times. Franco22 were not talking about 1 or 2 days here but hey dont let us stop you ranting

Because we werent told when we ordered
Because some of us paid £15 + for next day delivery
Because other couriers, are delivering and keeping there customers informed
Because people aren't buying petrol or home insurance, there buying something they are excited about receiving.

And don't give us that centre of the universe crap, we are customers buying from a business that provides a service, we have a right to complain and air grievances!

Rant Over:rolleyes:

I have no idea why DPD won't deliver to Newcastle, as you can see we are having some severe weather at present xD

Trying to get them to deliver the parcels from another company that likes purple from over 2 weeks ago. They are only 3 miles from here and I drove to them on Saturday 14 miles from my home and I made it alright. I guess the rain and wet roads are a little too bad for DPD xD They won't let me collect the parcels for work either even though I have the invoice and tracking information. They said I need the card to pick it up if they fail on their first delivery.

I work not far from there :D, about 400m including stairs
