MY THOUGHTS:
Well got up this morning just started playing. I'l give you my initial impressions.
Very enjoyable, feels clean and UN-clunky. Controls are nice to use. The dynamic lights from the torch is truly impressive. It feels like a post apocalyptic world, pretty and easy on the eye.
Once you play with the settings it feels very conformable. Picking up items feels great. However due to the 30% map restrictions there are players everywhere. One annoying thing they need to change is the ability to literally one shot other players with the Torch. Twice thismorning i've run around with a random for him to hit me in the hit! NO MORE MR NICE GUY!
Loot seems very rare, however with so many people in one area it gets cleared pretty quick!

The one shot torch I find out the hard before I left for work. Can't believe they have actually released this build with that in.

Glad i got the cheapest copy, it doesn't really sound like im missing anything. If by the 30th/31st it is still in a horrible state, i'll just sell the key that got bought for me and wait until they fix the game properly.

I'll stick with DayZ for now but keep checking here to see if it has improved. I hope they get it working how everyone wants it to be, but i can't see them doing it in in 14 days.

Even 14 days is just for beta though, and beta is likely to just be a notch on the pathway between alpha and release.

Off topic but are you still doing Train2game, your name just rang a bell there for a second. I'm not trolling but is that still going?

Yeah obviously it will get better, either way i'll be keeping up with how it does. I am not a DayZ snob by any means, but it has been a very very good game for me with a played time of over 600hours it was well worth the cash and it's only a mod.
If The War Z gets even just over 100hours played time by me, it'll be worth the money over some of the newer AAA titles with only 6-7 hours game time. I just hope they can do everything they are wanting to do.

Yeah I haven't done any for aaages though as I was made redundant and have a new day job which really gets in the way :/
oh and how awesome there's even an alpha torrent floating about, full rip... So we can steal from them what they stole from others, nice hah
Don't be a plum, you need an account to play it, the devs encouraged the torrent to take load off their servers.

Bit pointless as that key will also give you the full game, unless you got the 48 hour code. Might as well just keep it the cheapest option for the beta is dirt cheap for beta and full game.

True probably just kneejerking from myself, i guess we will see what happens with the game in the next few weeks and once they unlock more of the map.
Maybe you can play it, don't know.... Would probably be pretty empty, but it all it needs is for people to see what the game is like visually/engine wise
