Intel Core Ultra 9 285k 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

except AMD didn't need to fix the power and performance didn't go backwards
Well it wasn't much better either on release given 2 years had passed. My first impression of productivity is that it's a step forward, just not gaming. Completely new architecture for Intel so maybe expecting everything to be improved was unlikely to be the case.
Think a fix in Windows is required too, something Intel are aware of.

2 different levels of disappointment though, gaming right now is a total crap show for intel

It would be passable if AMD didn't have the X3D chips, the bad news is another better X3D CPU is about to launch. Oh dear...
high ends a tiny fraction of the overall market.

the most used core count on steam surveys is still 6 cores

Jensen's sister will start buying leather jackets soon, it's not really good for gamers

Have to laugh at the 285K - doesn't beat the 14700K for gaming performance, barely beats it for power efficiency at gaming... while faster for productivity not enough for the higher price tag IMO unless you are doing something a lot where the 285K is specifically faster. Sadly that'll likely see the 14700K price increase rather than the 285K discounted to where it should be.

How many generations is there with the 1851 socket? Is it the usual 2, or have Intel still not disclosed more details?

Intel haven't disclosed - but the roadmap shows pretty much everything cancelled, for now, for the platform except maybe a refresh of the same line up.

The gaming stuff is embarrassing how they let this out like this, so you really would buy this right now and hope things get fixed ?

It’s very poor showing in terms of support. Results are all over the place. Shouldnt be touched with a stick until bugs and issues are solved, and it gets at least a 50-75$ cut.

Completely new architecture for a dead platform, right. Windows - they managed to get windows gimped last time so maybe they can do it again (although money is tight right now)
