Hi again

So I'm deciding between Asus Maximus VII Hero and Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force for my i7 4790k.

Im a gamer so I like Asus ROG, not sure what else could Z97X-SOC Force bring, in terms of OCing. Do u think theres some "big" difference between them two ?

if i had the chance then i would have gone for the ROG ..... Usually....... but in the case of Z97 . . . if you can get your hands on MSI Z97 XPOWER AC then it would be better then the HERO.
 
The SOC Force is the better board, go take a look at HWbot results.

100% plus Stulid great for help with this board.

Very happy with mine for overclocking I don't know if anything is better the options are more than I've seen before.

I have had the Hero Gene and the SOC Force, I'm still with the SOC and enjoying it every day always some way for getting things to go faster.
 
Doesnt the MSI XPower board come with some handy features like onboard WiFi, and M.2 to SATA EXpress adapter, and a De-Lid guard, which i'm guessing a few of you could find handy !!
 
I would give the extras a miss and always go for over-clock ability and better power delivery.

I agree with the power delivery and think the SOC Force is as good as it is probably because of this as one factor.
But if you need WiFi then it's useful and the delid guard is a really nice touch the best solution on the market.
And the M.2 to SATA Express adapter is just fantastic as on the SOC Force it has SATA Express which is as good as a chocolate fire-guard where can you buy a drive for this?

What worries me is their talk of mSATA drives inside the housings striped in a RAID array, so basically SATA II devices, being re-packaged and sold to mugs that adopt early, nice... NOT!

As for the drives themselves, they look like standard 2.5-inchers. If the first one, Asustek’s Hyper Express Drive, is any indication, they’ll actually consist of two standard mSATA SSDs striped in a RAID 0 array with two Gen2 PCIe lanes and two 6Gbps SATA ports. In addition to the dual lanes, the RAID striping also helps to increase the drive’s overall speed.
So let me get this right, your pushing last gen SATA (mSATA specs are only II if i remember correctly) combined with last gen PCIe (2.0) and selling it as the next best thing, sorry, interim upgrade, not biting on this, Intel can take this and ram it until at LEAST 2nd generation drives appear

I'll stick to the m.2 drives that are at least x2 PCIe based like the Plextor M6e, or the full fat x4 speed sockets provided by ASRock and now Asus (Impact VII) and the likes of the Samsung XP941 or the Mushkin Helix when they arrive.

A great piece of useful advice/information that I for one would not go SATA Express at an early stage because of this.

This could save people a lot of money as when the 2nd Gen arrive these will take a huge hit.
 
Hi guys I recently purchase 10 i7 4790K 4 of them are L420XXXX, 3 of them are L419XXXX, 2 of them are L421XXXX and the last one is L422XXXX. Is there any chance to pick a "better" CPU in those I have mentioned? :) thank guys

Just a quick one... Speccy shows the "Memory Controller" voltage as 1.696v and the Asrock OC utility shows DRAM as 1.500v. I can't find any other utility that shows my DRAM voltages (Asrock Z97 Extreme4 board). HWMonitor has 1.696V listed as VIN1 and VIN11. Are the memory and controller voltages supposed to be the same? Both 1.5v? I'm using the XMP profile with my Corsair Vengeance RAM (9-9-9-24, 1600 @ 1.5v).

The whole 4790k batch number thing sounds interesting, might check mine out. My 4790k is currently running stock with everything set to auto in the bios. The core voltage hits 1.263v when it's boosting to 4.4GHz. Not too sure what the "System Agent Voltage Offset" thing is, but it's set to 0.199v by default/auto.
