***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

Already has the latest bios F6. Ran Heaven and I got a score of 1571.... which is 9 points lower than what I got with my old i5 750 rig  What's going on?

I've got the latest nVidia drivers installed and the CPU is boosting to 4.4Ghz during the benchmark. GTX 970 is also overclocked to the same as before.

Downloading firestrike now. I was using the same settings in Heaven but realised I didnt set XMP in the BIIOS for RAM, so ran it again and got 1590 which is 10 points higher than my i5 result. Expected a bigger jump tbh.

Same gpu as used in your old rig I assume, was the old setup oc'd. Tbh cpu speed doesn't make a massive difference in heaven. Firestrike will show a good gain as it benefits from an i7's hyper threading for physics, combined tests.

Firestrike score has gone up to 11515 from 10129, does that sound right? How do I know HT is enabled in Windows 8.1? Downlaoding BF4, expectatins are high for this one.

From memory it sounds about right. Bf4 on max settings at 1080p res id say your looking at about high 90's on average fps. Pretty similar id expect to what I get with a single factory oc'd gtx 780.

I was getting that with my i5 750 though. I'm expecting to his the hundreds and my minimum not to be so low. Windows 8 seems a lot snappier but that could be as it's a new installation.

Yep used the App tool from the Gigabyte website to download the latest drivers. Gonna do a round of BF4 now. Idle temps are 25c which is amazing! My i5 idle temps were 35c.

BF4 maxed out averaging 85 fps, max tamps on all cores is 55c

Will play around some more tomorrow. Thanks stulid for the recommendation and support :)

Its beer time

Get that board registered etc *within 4 weeks I think it is, to get that upgrade later on.

Also get it registered for the 5 year warranty and black edition membership benefits (if it is two separate registrations required or all done on one..again I dont know this)

Going to try overclocking it tonight, what's te best of way of doing this on this board? I cant see an 'auto-tune' option like I had on the Asus mobo.

EDIT: Found it, it's called EasyTune

The auto feature will put too much voltage into the cpu as its calibrated to work with a wide range of various cpus and their different overclocking abilities (some chips go high than others and some need less v that others).

Do it yourself manually.

Ok but where do I start, increasing the multiplier? With my i5 I just let the Vtuner do it for me.

Edit: Found this guide will give it a try tonight
