INTEL RAPTOR LAKE NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER !

What money, they pay nothing nowadays especially on a small amount.

I am keen on the pre-order but I am not too keen on waiting a month, not sure why they announce stuff when they aren't ready to ship... will see... now I am busy pestering Simon @ OC to get all the bits to do my waterloop.

Prices are decent on OC UK, a bit of redemption on the horrible two years :)

Have not seen MB yet however they seem rather pointless versus z690 and absolutely a joke of a price, seen "around".

The argument of "upgradability" is pointless, AMD is offering some great performers, 2025 is in 2 years really, considering how little left of 2022, I cannot imagine them coming up with something that you "need", and if you are on the latest and greatest then you also want the same from your MB features. I never found using either brands in the years an issue with MB, although lately they are too overpriced for what they are.

If you are talking about my comment re: interest, you should keep up with the times. You can get over 5% on the first £1k, that's £50 in a month, rather then it sitting in OCUKs bank. ;)

I should probably change bank ha ha

Then again prices are way lower than sc-ompetitor so I do not mind it really, unless it is badly managed like 30xx. More bothered by the absurd lengthy time between launch and actual availability, it really kills the upgrade hitch, especially after tow years and crazy prices that really showed you do not really need to upgrade at all.

Note I corrected the error month/year.

They did the pre order to help stop AM5 sales, it's that simple.

Not sure if that is how OCUK work, they never used to reserve kit if waiting for other parts in the past, they just take your monies that you could no actually be earning interest on in a bank. :)
Guess I will drop them a ticket tomorrow,
As for Interest, You think I'm paying this cash? as much as i trust OCUK I'm not spending that sort of money without using my credit card for protection and the bill for that won't come till the end of October anyway, when it will be cleared from my savings.

Just to say it still 3yr s the release dates likely similar in future. You don't take the end of one year and start of another to condense time frames.

So that means at least another two generations of CPU and so you could end up with something like a 24c/48t 9950x3D for all we know by then and that would be pretty nuts tbh.

The CPUs we can ship from 20th October.
@ScottiB is PM for motherboards. I suspect they will be added over coming days and weeks. :)
Get the CPU pre-orders in as I've no idea how supply is looking so far on 13th gen, AMD 7000 series supply is no issue, so hopefully Intel shall have plenty too.

Be interesting to know roughly how many more CPU's Intel sold vs AMD during this week. Of course Intel are just pre-orders whereas AMD have stock, so assume AMD will be higher for this week by a large margin!

So I'm an idiot when it comes to a lot of PC stuff. On the description it says the below
Up to 32GB DDR5-5600 memory, up to 64GB DDR5-5200 memory and up to 128GB DDR5-3600 memory
I'm going 64GB again so, does that mean I can't buy any memory that is more than 5200 as it will be a waste?

Intel work to JDEC spec.

With 32GB you can overclock beyond 7000MHz
With 64GB upto 6000MHz will be possible.
128GB should still be able to see 4800-5200MHz with a good CPU and RAM.

As your going 64GB I’d advice a 5600MHz kit or a 5200MHz kit.

Brilliant mate, thank you for your reply :D Time to start looking at what RAM to get :D :D

Here's the official DDR5 spec for 13th Gen.

For 64GB you can use 1DPC, and 2R so you'll be fine up to 5200 officially, but after that it is down to the board/CPU combo.

I see the comments about the good pricing on the 13600K so I check the links and its nearly double the price I paid for a 12600K.

Nearly double the price for some more cache and +4 e-cores....

Can't comment on the mid-range but I would detach an arm for a 13900k running at 6.5ghz with 1.45v.

Not cheap but certainly cheaper than the $800 chips we were buying from siliconlottery before it shut for good.

My binned 10900k 5.2ghz chip runs at 1.4v and the price gave me a nosebleed.

At least we can now buy a pre-binned chip direct from intel with a warranty.

What would you say would be better for performance for 13900k?
or
2x https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...5600mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-4d6-cs.html
Check your specific motherboard's QVL list - only buy a kit that's explicitly listed there. The model number has to match exactly. Then its guaranteed to work.

2 x 32. Will always be better than 4 x 16. Will be less strain on the IMC and you also have the ability to update to more ram if you need to with 2 spare slots, but you will end up running the ram slower with 4 sticks probably/depends on the IMC in the cpu.

board prices live in US Asus hero $630 so that could mean 630x1.07+20% = £808 OUCH!!!!! @Gibbo any more info on boards your end???

The msi mpg carbon looks ok with one of the higher mem oc supported speeds at 7600 for a 4 dimm board @$480

If you multiply there you make the dollar, be 1.07, GBP still the one above.

Still if they for price similar to CPU for me they can keep them, pretty much anyone is using "inflation" as an excuse (including us at work to be honest) and that's exactly what generates inflation... glad to see things are staying on shelves so far and wait for people to truly realize the cost of increase in bills now that got cold quite quick too. PC gaming never was something that was yielded upon YOY or product over product, nothing to do with Moore Law, now they think they can yield on it and it is not really proving right.

Was glad to see at EGX so many people, young and non, enjoying the multitude of indie games requiring nothing more than what is already out there in terms of hardware even before 30xx.

630÷1.07 = 588.79 x 1.2 = £706

It is getting cheaper to have a return flight out, buy the products in America and come back.
