Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

Why not wait till 2025 when all high-end CPU will be 16 core? Why not just wait till 2030? If you follow this idea of always waiting, you'll never upgrade as you hype up future releases too much.

Because every tests with these new CPU's are showing only 1080p performance, not 1440p high hz which is what i am using.. pointless upgrading if it's not really an upgrade right?

Can I play?

All stock for now, too tired to mess about. Going to get some sleep.
Are you happy now?

Surely your more GPU bound at that res anyway? You need at least a 1080 GPU or higher to push high Hz at that res, obviously game dependent to some extent

Apparently so, i just wondered if CPU would show a bit of difference but it can't be much if most reviewers are showing 1080p.

If your GPU bound more CPU isn't going to do much, it can give you other things, but if the GPU is pegged your not going higher in framerates

I doubt it. My 290 can just about deal with 2560x1440 kind of ish. Unless you mean 3440x1440.

I run a GTX 1070 at 2560*1440 and it goes OK sure, but the original comment was about High Hz too, so I assumed he was wondering if a better CPU would help him achieve his 100FPS+ at that res, which your not always going to get, like I say Game Dependent and what settings you want to run at.

Some games a 1070 will hit well over 100FPS at 2560*1440 and others will be well short, just depends on many different things

I Would buy a 8400 if you could get decent returns from BCLK overclocking but seems that isn't the case or there would be lots of articles on it. Bring back the old days when Intel didn't support overclocking which meant no chips were singled out for nerfing... :/
