Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

I was messaging a guy the other week for about 5 days and then he suddenly stopped so I was a bit bummed. I was hoping he might just have not had internet connection for a few days, but alas I saw that he came online several times. BUT THEN he wrote to me again 2 days ago (after not being in contact for a week) and just continued on from the last message I'd sent. I was happy he'd written again, but also a bit annoyed because he must have been writing to other people in that week who he preferred to me otherwise he would have written back to me, don't you think?
Ahhh, I know I over think things! This online dating is making me paranoid! I guess I'll reply to him, but I just don't want to be someone's second choice!

Whilst I know where you're coming from, I think you are over analysing it. It doesn't really matter at this point because you haven't even met him yet. Maybe you will be his favourite after you actually meet. Just relax and see what happens.

I have date 3 with a girl tomorrow. Going to a gig!

Thanks Richdog and Jambo.

I guess I can't say how much I like him because 5 days wasn't much, but I guess I must have liked him somewhat if him not replying bummed me out.
I was thinking about making a joke about him 'forgetting' to write to me while he was online, but then I realised it might make me sound controlling and there's probably no way he'd write to me again, haha! Plus he's German so he might not find it funny (just thought I'd get the stereotype in there, hehe!).
I guess I'll reply as normal, but not get my hopes up too much.

Good luck with the date tomorrow, Jambo! I had a date at The Cranberries' concert a few weeks back and it was a good date choice I found :)

Charlotte when I used to be on sites like this I kinda got sick of people just 'vanishing' after x amount of messages. I couldn't stand it myself!

People just get sick of not finding someone n what else can you do if they just vanish. Not a lot really.

You mean if a girl sends you a long message you might take several weeks to reply? The girls probably do care, but don't want to seem desperate by writing to you again because they'll presume you're not interested if you don't write sooner maybe.
Even though I like this guy now, I wouldn't have written to him again, but luckily he replied eventually

yup! last long message i received was on oct 15th! i haven't replied yet :o but at the same time she takes a week or two to reply too :D then again im not on dating sites so i guess time is not an issue.

i had a lovely girl message me one random night saying "hi there" i replied back the next day as it was like 1am and i coudln't be bothered to read her profile and write a good reply. silly thing is i've not heard back from her since, which is odd, why even bother emailing me to never reply.

i'm suspicious of any hot girl on dating sites. a hot girl like some of the ones you see on pof would no doubt easily find dates, esp when they list their interests as clubbing partying etc, so very much doubt they're "real" profiles.

I'm afraid I'm terribly suspicious when a smoking hot, out of my league girl messages me. I do hope I'm wrong. :(

There are obviously plenty of hot girls on dating sites, don't let your own insecurities stop you pulling one. :)

Happened to me ages ago, literally spoke to this women none stop for like a week, then we spent one evening until about 6am writing to each other, I mean like 1000 + word messages at times. Then after that it just stopped, I messaged her a few days later to see how she was and never heard back. Was really strange.

But yea, now I'm covered in tattoos it puts a fair few women off lol, guess a 6 foot 3 skin head who is around 20 stone covered in tattoos might be a little intimidating to women online lol.

That is really weird. What's the point of her putting in so much effort with the lengthy replies just to suddenly stop writing?

Do you mean you've got the tattoos since then or you had them when you were writing to each other? If she'd seen photos of you then she obviously didn't mind the tattoos if she were writing to you.

I'd imagine after these 1000+ word messages they'd be no point meeting up as you'd have nothing to talk about. You'd know about each other, but not know each other, if that makes sense.

Usually thats because they are cam whores:p...when i was doing the online dating thing a couple of yrs ago...i used to get these unbelievably hot girls messaging me...only to find out that they were cam whores.

Not saying all hot girls are cam whores but from what i used to see and experience...it definitely seemed the case.

I know honestly, 1,000 is possibly too little... some messages were stupidly long from both parts. Enjoyed talking to her then bam... Nothing, I did send her another message after about a week and still nothing so I left it at that. Guess I was more annoyed of the waste of life you know?

Sorry the tattooing part was more about my situation recently (the above story happened many years ago.) I'm at work so I rushed my reply a little. But yea, people stereotype big style. Most people don't read your profession and the common thing I get both online and even in real life is "Are you a doorman?" Then they are so shocked to find out I'm quiet high up in IT... some don't believe me lol.

Well, having IM'd her for an hour and just had a phone conversation it seems she's actually quite timid and shy. Will see how it goes...but she does have my achilles heel...an accent. Half-Dutch and god knows Dutch girls are my kryptonite. I'm going to need my wits about me.

Wow, you mean there are good-looking girls in the world that are actually not super bitches? I'm shocked. :)

Any chance of a non-identifying photo posted so we can give our verdict? :D
